Check Account statements in the app

The short answer

Can you export Chime transactions to Excel?

Not from Chime itself. Chime’s help pages describe viewing, searching and filtering transactions in the app, and downloading monthly statements, but no CSV or spreadsheet export. To get Chime transactions into Excel, download the statement and convert it.

Statements are in the Chime app under Profile, then Documents, then Account statements, and on chime.com under Profile, then Documents. Choose the account and the month. Checking and Savings statements are generated monthly, and the Chime Card and Credit Builder statements by billing cycle. Chime does not mail paper statements, and it does not say how many months it keeps online.

A converted Chime statement is checked against the summary at the top of each account section: the beginning balance plus deposits, minus ATM withdrawals, purchases, transfers, round-ups, fees and tips, must equal the ending balance.

Watch for this

One statement, several accounts, and the same money on both sides

Chime says a statement can have separate sections for each of your accounts (Checking Account Statement, Savings Account Statement, Chime Card Secured Account Billing Statement), and each section shows the ending balance of that account only. A section can even show $0.00 while money sits in another one. Money moves between them constantly: Round Up transfers from checking to savings, and with Chime Card, money added to checking is generally moved straight on to the Secured Deposit Account. Each move appears once as money out of one section and once as money in to another. Read the whole PDF as one account and every transfer is counted twice; read only the Checking section and a Chime Card user can look as if they spend nothing.

Step by step

How to convert a Chime bank statement

  1. 1Download the statements from ChimeIn the Chime app, tap Profile, then Documents, then Account statements, choose the account and month, and use the export icon at the top right. On chime.com, go to Profile, then Documents, and select the statement under Account Statements.
  2. 2Know which sections you needA Chime statement can carry Checking, Savings and Chime Card sections. A lender reviewing income usually wants Checking; a full picture of spending needs the Chime Card section too.
  3. 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned or printed copy is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
  4. 4Check against the summaryBeginning balance plus the rows must equal the ending balance, and the printed totals must match. If not, VouchRow shows the dollar difference, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
  5. 5ExportExcel or CSV for a lender or a review, QBO for QuickBooks, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.

Chime bank statement to Excel

An .xlsx with one row per transaction: date, description and a signed amount, money in positive and money out negative. The beginning balance plus the column equals the ending balance on Chime’s summary.

For an income review, convert two or three months in one batch and total the Deposit rows by month. Leave out transfers from your own Savings or Secured Deposit Account; they are not income.

Why it works

Built around how Chime prints a statement

The summary is the proof

Deposits, ATM Withdrawals, Purchases, Transfers, Round Up Transfers, Fees and SpotMe Tips are the month’s totals. They are used as the check and kept out of the rows.

Each account on its own

Checking, Savings and Chime Card sections each carry their own ending balance. Converting them as separate accounts keeps the balances honest.

Two dates per row

Chime prints when you made a purchase and when it settled. Pick one basis for the books and keep it all year.

Deposits easy to total

Payroll, transfers in and other deposits come out as positive rows, ready to total by month for an income review.

Every row traced to its line

Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from. A lender or landlord can check any deposit without paging through the statement.

Older and closed accounts

Any Chime statement you saved converts the same way, including accounts you can no longer log in to.

Checked before export

A misread digit is caught on its own row

Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.

Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

Every row agrees with the balance printed beside it.

Not a bank

Who holds a Chime account

Chime describes itself as a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A., Members FDIC, and the Chime Card is issued by one of the two (Chime says to check the back of the card). Chime statements name the issuing bank, which is the name a lender or a court may ask for.

In September 2026 Chime signed an agreement to buy Stride Bank’s parent company. When it closes, which Chime expects in the first half of 2027 subject to OCC and Federal Reserve approval, Stride is to be renamed Chime Bank, N.A. Statements issued before and after that date may name different banks for the same account, so keep the bank name as printed on each statement.

Layout

How a Chime checking account statement is laid out

Chime does not publish a sample statement, so this is how recent Chime checking statements print; compare it with yours. The Checking Account Statement section opens with a summary: Beginning balance on the first day, then Deposits, ATM Withdrawals, Purchases, Adjustments, Transfers, Round Up Transfers, Fees and SpotMe Tips, then Ending balance on the last day.

The transactions follow with six columns: Transaction Date, Description, Type, Amount, Net Amount and Settlement Date. Dates are MM/DD/YYYY. Money out carries a minus sign. Type names the category the row is totalled under (Deposit, Purchase, Transfer, Fee and so on), which is what ties the rows to the summary lines. There is no running balance on the rows.

Amount and Net Amount match on most rows. Use one of them, never both, or every transaction is counted twice.

Proof of income

Chime statements for lenders and landlords

Chime statements are often what an applicant has to show income: payroll arrives by direct deposit and there is no paper pay trail. Chime says it cannot provide a statement shorter than one month, and that the statements in the app are the only ones it provides. A lender asking for “the last 60 days” gets two or three monthly statements.

Converting them gives a reviewer the deposits as rows, ready to total by month, with every row linked to its line on the PDF and each month checked against Chime’s own summary. Transfers in from the applicant’s own Savings or Chime Card sections are not income; the Type column and the section they sit in show which deposits are external.

Chime Card

Chime Card and the Secured Deposit Account

Chime Card is a secured Visa credit card. Chime explains that money added to your Chime account is generally deposited to Checking and then automatically moved to your Secured Deposit Account, which becomes the balance you spend with the card. That move shows on the statement as a transfer out of checking and into the secured account.

Its activity is in the Chime Card Secured Account Billing Statement section (Credit Builder Secured Account Billing Statement on older accounts), issued by billing cycle rather than calendar month. For books or a budget, treat the secured account as its own account and the move from checking as a transfer, not spending.

Troubleshooting

Common Chime statement conversion problems

Most Chime errors come from the summary, the extra amount column and the multiple sections.

  • Ten extra rows at the top: the summary lines were read as transactions. They are the month’s totals.
  • Every amount is doubled: both Amount and Net Amount were summed. Use one.
  • Spending looks far too low: only the Checking section was converted, and the Chime Card section holds the purchases.
  • Transfers counted as income: money moved from Savings or the Secured Deposit Account was read as a deposit.
  • A month is off by a day at the edges: Transaction Date and Settlement Date were mixed. Choose one.
  • A section shows $0.00 but there was money: Chime says each section shows only its own account’s ending balance. Check the other sections.

Before you import

After converting a Chime statement, check these

  • The month balancesBeginning balance plus the rows equals the ending balance in each account section. If not, the difference is shown.
  • No summary rowsNone of the ten summary lines (Deposits, Purchases, SpotMe Tips and so on) appear among the transactions.
  • One amount columnAmount or Net Amount, not both.
  • Sections kept apartChecking, Savings and Chime Card rows are in separate files or accounts, each tying to its own ending balance.
  • Transfers counted onceA move from Checking to Savings or the Secured Deposit Account is a transfer, not spending and not income.
  • One date basisTransaction Date or Settlement Date, used consistently across every month.

Downloaded activity and statements are not the same thing

Every large US bank offers two different exports, and people reach for the wrong one constantly. Downloadable account activity — CSV, and often QFX or OFX — covers a recent window, typically a few months, and stops. Statements are PDFs, are issued per period, and go back years. If you need last March, the activity export will not have it and the statement will; converting the PDF is how that gap is closed.
Suggested format

Excel for Chime

Most Chime statements are converted for a lender, a landlord or a tax preparer, who wants deposits and spending in a spreadsheet that ties to the statement, not an accounting import.
