Bank of America checking, savings and credit card statements
Convert Bank of America statements to Excel, CSV and QuickBooks
Bank of America keeps seven years of statements online but only a short window of downloadable activity — and Quicken’s Web Connect files ended in 2025. Converting the PDF fills the gap.
- Detached minus signs kept, so withdrawals stay withdrawals
- Deposits and subtractions sections merged into one signed ledger
- QFX and QBO from statements, after Quicken Web Connect ended
- Up to seven years of statements, converted in batches

The short answer
Can you download Bank of America statements to Excel?
You can turn a Bank of America statement to Excel only for recent activity through the bank itself; for anything older, the PDF statement is the source. Bank of America lets you download transactions for use with financial management software, and for credit cards it lets you request up to 12 months of detailed transaction information — but statements are what it keeps for the long term: up to seven years in Online and Mobile Banking, with older copies available by request.
One route has closed. According to Quicken’s own announcement, Bank of America discontinued its OFX services on 30 September 2025, ending Direct Connect and Web Connect (QFX file) downloads for Quicken; Express Web Connect+ is the remaining connection. If you relied on downloading a QFX from Bank of America to fill gaps in Quicken, that file no longer comes from the bank.
Converting the PDF statement is how you get older history, cycles from a closed card, scanned statements, or a QFX or QBO file built from the statement itself — each one checked against the beginning and ending balances Bank of America prints.

What Bank of America lets you export from a checking account
Each route covers a different job. Since Quicken’s Web Connect files ended, the statement PDF is also the only way to build a QFX for older Bank of America history.
Online Banking download
Shown in Online Banking
Recent activity for use in financial software, in the file types Online Banking lists for your account. Small Business Online Banking adds QuickBooks Web Connect for checking, savings, money market and credit card accounts, with QuickBooks Online or Desktop 2018 or later.
Where it stops: The date range is not published, Quicken QFX downloads ended on September 30, 2025, and a date range rarely starts on the statement’s beginning balance.
Statements & Documents
Up to 7 years
One PDF per statement period with the Account summary, every deposit, withdrawal, check and service fee, and the Daily ledger balances. Older months come through Request statements.
Where it stops: A PDF only, and a requested copy disappears after 7 days, so save it when it arrives.
Converting the statement with VouchRow
Any statement you have
The sections become one signed ledger in date order, checked against the Account summary, the section totals and the Daily ledger balances, with every row linked to its line.
Where it stops: Needs the statement PDF. Months older than seven years have to come from copies you kept.
How far back
How far back each Bank of America checking option reaches
Bank of America is clear about its statement archive and quiet about its checking download, which shows its date range only inside Online Banking. Cash Rewards, Travel Rewards and other card statements are covered on the Bank of America credit card page, with their own 12-month and three-year limits.
Checking activity download
Not published
Bank of America does not publish the range or the file types for a checking download on its public pages. Check what Online Banking offers for your account before counting on a full year.
Statements in Statements & Documents (PDF)
Up to 7 years
Bank of America’s Statements & Documents page says up to seven years are in Online and Mobile Banking. Its digital banking FAQ puts 18 months on view at any time, with older months ordered through Request statements.
Request statements (electronic copies)
Up to 7 years back
A copy is ready 24 to 36 hours after the request and stays online for 7 days. Paper copies are mailed in 7 to 10 business days.
A dashed bar means the bank does not publish a figure; check your own online banking.
Step by step
How to convert a Bank of America statement
- 1Open Statements & DocumentsIn Online Banking, open the account and go to Statements & Documents. Use View PDF or Download PDF for each statement. For credit cards, statements are under the card’s account details. For statements older than what is listed, use Request statements: electronic copies typically arrive within 24 to 36 hours and stay available for seven days, so save them when they appear.
- 2Save the standard PDFBank of America offers screen-reader-formatted PDFs as an option. Either converts, but the standard statement is the one an auditor or lender will recognise when you hand over the source.
- 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the statements. Digital PDFs convert in batches; scanned or mailed statements go through OCR one at a time.
- 4Check the opening balance and the proofConfirm the beginning balance was taken as the opening balance and that opening plus movement equals the ending balance. Any row can be clicked to show its highlighted line on the PDF.
- 5Export QBO, QFX, CSV or ExcelChoose the format for your software. QBO and QFX need a bank ID entered by you; CSV and Excel do not.
Formats
Where is your Bank of America checking data going?
Pick the destination. The advice changes with it.
Bank of America statement to Excel
An .xlsx with one row per transaction in date order: date, description and one signed amount, deposits positive and withdrawals, checks and service fees negative. The deposits, withdrawals and checks sections are merged, so the check paid on the 5th sits between the card purchases on the 3rd and the payroll on the 15th.
The beginning balance is kept as the opening figure, not a row, and the file runs from it to the ending balance. Long ACH descriptions (DES, ID, INDN, CO ID) stay on one line so you can filter by originator.
PDF to ExcelBank of America statement to CSV
Bank of America issues statements as PDFs, not CSV. A converted CSV writes date, description and one signed amount, with the date format chosen at export, ready for a budgeting tool, a script or an import screen.
Because every statement converts with the same columns, seven years of Bank of America checking can go into one spreadsheet without rebuilding the layout each time.
PDF to CSVBank of America statement to QuickBooks
Export QBO, enter Bank of America’s INTU.BID, and import into the checking account in QuickBooks. Business Advantage customers may already get Web Connect files from Small Business Online Banking for recent months; converted QBO files fill in the statements before that.
If QuickBooks answers with OL-301 or an unsupported institution message, check the bank ID first. Transaction IDs on every row stop an overlapping month from duplicating.
PDF to QBOBank of America statement to Quicken
Bank of America stopped providing Web Connect (QFX) and Direct Connect for Quicken on September 30, 2025, according to Quicken. Express Web Connect+ handles new transactions; a QFX converted from the statements is how older history goes in.
Import the QFX into the existing Bank of America account in Quicken. If your Quicken version refuses the file, QIF works too, but it has no transaction IDs, so import each month once.
PDF to QFXBank of America statement to Xero
Use the Xero CSV preset: one signed amount column in the date format Xero expects. Import it into the Bank of America account in Xero and reconcile as usual.
The minus signs Bank of America prints on withdrawals carry straight through, so Xero reads checks, card purchases and transfers out as spend and payroll deposits as received.

| Date format | MM/DD/YY on each row; debit card rows also start their description with the purchase date (MM/DD) |
|---|---|
| Running balance | Not printed per row; a Daily ledger balances table gives one balance for each day with activity |
| Amount column | One Amount column per section; withdrawals print with a minus sign set apart from the number (“- 46.32”) |
| Sections | Deposits and other additions, then Withdrawals and other subtractions, split into checks, ATM and debit card subtractions, other subtractions and service fees, each with its own total |
| Beginning balance | In the Account summary on page one (“Beginning balance on” the first day), not in the transaction table |
Why it works
What the conversion takes care of on a Bank of America statement
Minus signs kept with their numbers
Bank of America prints withdrawals as “- 46.32”, with a space between the sign and the amount. The sign is read with the number, so no withdrawal turns into a deposit.
One signed amount column
Deposits and other additions come out positive; withdrawals, checks, card subtractions and service fees come out negative, in a single column every importer understands.
Statement-built QFX for Quicken
With Web Connect gone, a QFX converted from the statement is a way to put older Bank of America history into Quicken, with stable IDs so re-imports do not duplicate.
Section totals as checks
The account summary prints totals for deposits, withdrawals, checks and fees. Each is compared with the rows extracted under it.
Checked before export
A misread digit is caught on its own row
Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.
Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

Bank of America’s own export options and their limits
Bank of America separates statements from downloadable activity more sharply than most banks. Statements: up to seven years of PDFs in Online and Mobile Banking, and a Request statements option for older periods, which delivers an electronic copy that is available for only seven days. Credit card statements can be viewed and printed for up to three years under the card’s Statements & Documents tab.
Activity downloads are shorter. For credit cards the bank describes requesting up to 12 months of detailed transaction information and downloading transactions for financial management software. For checking and savings, the date range and the formats offered are shown inside Online Banking rather than on a public page, so check what your account offers before assuming a year is available.
Small business customers have a QuickBooks route: Bank of America’s small business pages describe Web Connect downloads from Small Business Online Banking for checking, savings, money market and credit card accounts, with QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop 2018 or later. For personal Quicken users, the 2025 change described above means Express Web Connect+ is the remaining connection, and it does not backfill years of history.
- Statements online: up to seven years; older copies by request.
- Credit card statements: up to three years to view and print.
- Credit card activity: up to 12 months of detailed transactions by request.
- Quicken QFX (Web Connect) and Direct Connect: discontinued 30 September 2025, per Quicken.
Statement layout
How a Bank of America checking statement is laid out
The first page carries an account summary: beginning balance on the first day of the period, deposits and other additions, withdrawals and other subtractions, checks, service fees, and the ending balance on the last day. These are totals, not transactions, and they are what the extracted rows must add up to.
The transaction detail follows under section headings — deposits and other additions, withdrawals and other subtractions (often split into ATM and debit card subtractions and other subtractions), checks, and service fees. Each section is in date order and carries its own subtotal. Withdrawals print with a minus sign set apart from the number (“- 46.32”), and debit card rows start their description with the date the card was used, the two details that catch out most converters.
Checks are listed by number with the date posted and amount. Descriptions for electronic items are long — an originator name, an ID and sometimes a confirmation number — and wrap onto a second line; they are merged back into one description per row. Bank of America’s own guide to reading a statement shows a two-digit year (07/20/12), so every date is read with the period on the front page in mind.
Credit cards
Bank of America credit card statements
Cash Rewards, Travel Rewards and business card statements show a transaction date and a posting date for each item, with payments and other credits separated from purchases and adjustments, and fees and interest charged in their own blocks. There is no running balance, so reconciliation falls back to the summary: previous balance, payments and credits, purchases, fees, interest and new balance.
Because only three years of card statements are online, card history is the most common reason Bank of America customers end up converting PDFs they saved years ago. Old saved PDFs and scanned paper statements convert the same way; scans are read one statement at a time.
Software
Importing Bank of America statements into QuickBooks, Quicken and Xero
QuickBooks Online and Desktop banking: export QBO and enter Bank of America’s INTU.BID. If QuickBooks refuses the bank (OL-301 or an unsupported financial institution message), the bank ID is the first thing to check; our guides cover both. If the bank feed itself is unreliable for your account, a CSV import or, for QuickBooks Desktop, an IIF file avoids the bank-ID check entirely.
Quicken: export QFX with the bank ID for Quicken versions that still accept the file for your account, or QIF where QFX is refused. Quicken’s own suggestion after the Web Connect shutdown was to import a correctly formatted CSV — the generic CSV preset writes date, description and one signed amount.
Xero: use the Xero CSV preset. Whatever the destination, the transaction IDs are deterministic, so importing a statement that overlaps the bank feed does not create duplicates in Quicken or QuickBooks.
Troubleshooting
Common Bank of America problems and fixes
The errors people search for after converting or importing Bank of America data usually trace back to one of these.
- Withdrawals came through as deposits: the minus sign printed apart from the number was dropped. Here it is read with the amount.
- “Bank of America QBO file not working”: usually the bank ID or a bank-feed connection issue on the QuickBooks side, not the file’s rows. Check the INTU.BID first.
- QFX import errors in Quicken since late 2025: Web Connect files for Bank of America are no longer supported for many accounts. Try QIF or CSV.
- A requested older statement vanished: electronic copies from Request statements are available for seven days. Save them when they arrive.
- Totals off on a long statement: compare each section subtotal with the extracted rows; the mismatch shows which section lost a line.

Before you import
After converting a Bank of America checking statement, check these
- The opening balance is not a rowThe beginning balance sits as the opening figure. The first transaction is the first deposit or withdrawal of the period.
- The month balancesBeginning balance plus deposits minus withdrawals, checks and service fees equals the ending balance on the Account summary.
- Section totals agreeRows from each section add up to Total deposits and other additions, Total withdrawals and other subtractions and Total checks.
- No daily balance rowsThe Daily ledger balances table was used as the check and does not appear among the transactions.
- Transfers match on both sidesA transfer to savings appears on both statements. Import each account into its own bank account in your books so it matches once.
- Requested copies savedAny month from Request statements is saved as a PDF before its 7 days are up, so the conversion can be repeated later.

QBO for Bank of America
Who uses it
Common reasons to convert Bank of America statements
Quicken users who lost Web Connect
Gaps in a Quicken file from before Express Web Connect+ was set up can be filled from statements, with transaction IDs that will not collide on re-import.
Small business catch-up in QuickBooks
Business Advantage statements from previous years become QBO or IIF files, each one reconciled to its ending balance before it reaches the books.
Mortgage and loan applications
An underwriter wants deposits analysed across several months. Converting the statements gives a deposits-and-additions list that ties to the PDFs already in the file.
Family law and forensic accounting
Statements requested from Bank of America for a period years back arrive as PDFs. Converted, each row links to its line on the produced statement.
FAQ
Bank of America statements: questions
Can I download Bank of America statements to Excel?
Statements download as PDFs only. Recent activity can be downloaded from Online Banking for use in other software; for statement periods, convert the PDF to Excel here and the rows are checked against the beginning and ending balances.
How do I download Bank of America statements as CSV?
Bank of America does not issue statements as CSV. Download the statement PDF from Statements & Documents and convert it; the CSV export writes one signed amount column with the Xero, QuickBooks or generic layout.
Did Bank of America stop QFX downloads for Quicken?
Yes. Quicken announced that Bank of America discontinued its OFX services on 30 September 2025, ending Direct Connect and Web Connect (QFX) downloads; Express Web Connect+ is the supported connection. A QFX converted from your statements is one way to load older history.
How do I get a QBO file from Bank of America?
Bank of America’s small business pages describe Web Connect for QuickBooks from Small Business Online Banking. For older periods, or if the download is not available to you, convert the statement PDF and export QBO with Bank of America’s bank ID.
Why did my Bank of America withdrawals import as deposits?
Bank of America prints the minus sign apart from the number (“- 46.32”). A converter that reads only the number drops it. Converted files here keep the sign with the amount, and the ending balance check catches anything that slips.
How far back do Bank of America statements go online?
Up to seven years in Online and Mobile Banking, and three years for credit card statements. Older statements can be requested; electronic copies usually arrive within 24 to 36 hours and are available for seven days.
The statement has separate deposits and withdrawals sections. Which does my software want?
Most want one signed column, negative for money out. The sections are merged and exported as a single signed amount, which is what Xero, MYOB and a QuickBooks CSV expect.
Can I convert a Bank of America credit card statement?
Yes. Card statements have no running balance, so the conversion is checked against the previous balance, payments and credits, purchases, fees, interest and new balance printed on the statement.
