The short answer

Can you export a Huntington bank statement to Excel?

Huntington lets you download transactions yourself: on the Account Details page in online banking, Download Transactions offers the past month or a custom date range, as a CSV, Quicken or QuickBooks file. Huntington does not publish how far back that download reaches. A statement that has to match exactly, or one you saved from an older period, comes from the PDF, and converting it gives you the same Excel, CSV or QuickBooks file.

Huntington keeps bank statements online for 24 months under the statements tab in online banking; for older records it asks you to contact the bank directly, and recommends printing statements you want to keep. Business Online also shows 24 months of statements, and its Comprehensive package adds a seven-year report archive.

A Huntington checking statement has no running balance on the rows. Each month is checked against the summary on page one (Beginning Balance, Credits (+), Debits (-), Total Fees (-), Ending Balance) and against each date in the Balance Activity section.

Watch for this

The sign is in the heading, and personal and business statements use different headings

Huntington prints every amount as a positive number and puts the sign in brackets after the section name: “Deposit / Credit Activity (+)”, “Check Activity (-)”. Lose the heading and every debit card purchase becomes a deposit. The harder part is that the headings change with the account. A personal statement splits money out into Check Activity, Debit Card / POS Activity and Other Withdrawal / Debit Activity, with Check # before the amount. A business statement uses Deposits (+), Other Credits (+), Checks (-) and Other Debits (-), and its Checks block puts the date first and the check number last. A reader built on one layout misreads the other, so the two are handled as separate layouts and each is checked against its own summary.

What Huntington lets you export

Each route has a job. Converting the statement is for periods the download does not reach and for files that must match a statement.

From the Account Details page, a CSV, Quicken or QuickBooks file for the dates you choose. Business Online exports the same three formats, and Comprehensive adds Excel, PDF, XML, Word and BAI2.

Where it stops: Huntington does not publish how far back the personal range goes, and the dates you pick will not match a statement period.

Step by step

How to convert a Huntington bank statement

  1. 1Save the statements from HuntingtonIn Huntington online banking, open the statements tab (statements are part of the Service Center) and save each statement you need as a PDF. In Business Online, choose Statements and Invoices under Statements, then Deposit Account Statement, and display the available dates.
  2. 2Keep personal and business apartPersonal and business statements use different section names. Batch each account separately so each set lands in the right account in your software.
  3. 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned paper statement is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
  4. 4Check against the summary and Balance ActivityCredits, debits and fees must reconcile from the Beginning Balance to the Ending Balance, and each date must match Balance Activity. If not, VouchRow shows the difference, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
  5. 5ExportExcel or CSV to review, QBO for QuickBooks, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.

Huntington bank statement to Excel

An .xlsx with one row per deposit, check, card purchase and other debit: date, description, check number where there is one, and a signed amount. Every (-) section comes out negative, so the column sums to the change between Beginning and Ending Balance.

Add a running total from the Beginning Balance and it will match each line of Balance Activity, which is the quickest way to show a reviewer the month is complete.

Why it works

Built around how Huntington prints a statement

Signs from the headings

Every (+) section comes out as money in and every (-) section as money out, across all four activity blocks.

Two layouts, both handled

Personal and business statements name and order their sections and check columns differently. Each is read as what it is.

Balance Activity as proof

The daily balances confirm the running total at every date and are kept out of the transaction list.

Check numbers kept

Check Activity is split into one row per check, with the number kept for matching and the (*) and (S) flags removed.

Fee boxes left out

The overdraft and return fee summary is a period and year-to-date box, not activity. The fees themselves come through as rows.

Statements past two years

Statements you saved before they left online banking, or requested from Huntington, convert the same way.

Checked before export

A misread digit is caught on its own row

Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.

Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

  • CHECK #1042−1,250.0015,354.12

Every row agrees with the balance printed beside it.

Layout

What a Huntington personal checking statement looks like

Page one names the account (for example “Asterisk-Free Checking Account”), gives the statement period as Statement Activity From 08/17/26 to 09/16/26, and prints the summary: Beginning Balance, Credits (+), Debits (-), Total Fees (-) and Ending Balance, with Average Balance and Low Balance beside them. The footer repeats the period and the page count.

The activity follows in blocks whose headings carry the sign: Deposit / Credit Activity (+) with Date, Description and Amount; Check Activity (-) with Check #, Amount and Date Paid, printed two checks to a line; Debit Card / POS Activity (-); and Other Withdrawal / Debit Activity (-), where fees such as an overdraft fee also appear as lines. In Check Activity, (S) marks a check converted to a substitute check and (*) means the prior numbered check may have been voided or is otherwise not on this statement.

When overdraft or return fees were charged, a Total Overdraft Fees and Return Fees Summary box shows them for this period and year-to-date. The month closes with the account’s Balance Activity section: a date and balance for each day with activity, printed in pairs. Neither the box nor the balances are transactions.

Business

Huntington business and public funds statements

Business statements use their own headings. The summary adds Days in Statement Period and Average Ledger Balance, and splits activity into Regular Deposits, Electronic Deposits, Regular Checks Paid and Electronic Withdrawals. The body then lists Deposits (+) with Date, Amount, Serial # and Type; Other Credits (+), where an interest payment appears; Checks (-) with Date, Amount and Check #, several to a line; Other Debits (-); and Balance Activity. Interest-bearing accounts show the yield earned this period and interest paid last year, and analyzed accounts add a Service Charge Detail.

From September 2024, Huntington began showing only the last five digits of the account number on business statements. If you match converted files to accounts by number, use those five digits, or set the account in your software directly.

QuickBooks and Quicken

Huntington with QuickBooks Online, Desktop and Quicken

Huntington’s QuickBooks Online conversion instructions cover two connectivity types, Express Web Connect and Web Connect, and describe Web Connect as a .qbo or .qfx file downloaded from the bank. Huntington’s PC Banking page lists a $2.95 monthly fee for consumer accounts that connect desktop software directly, and refers business accounts to their account charges form.

For months the download no longer covers, convert the statements to QBO for QuickBooks or QFX for Quicken and import them into the same account. Each converted row carries a transaction ID, so where a converted month overlaps a downloaded one, the repeats are recognised rather than doubled.

Business Online

Business Online history and export formats

Huntington Business Online comes in two packages. Standard keeps 13 months of balance, transaction and check image history and exports CSV, QuickBooks and Quicken. Comprehensive keeps 24 months and adds PDF, XML, Word, Excel and BAI2 exports, plus the seven-year archive of reports. Both keep 24 months of statements.

Check Inquiry in Business Online searches up to 24 months back and returns the front and back of each check. The rows on a converted statement carry the check number, so a reviewer can pull the matching image without searching by amount.

Troubleshooting

Common Huntington conversion problems

Most Huntington errors come from the signs in the headings and the two layouts.

  • Purchases show as deposits: the (-) on the section heading was not carried onto the rows. Every amount prints positive.
  • Check rows with two numbers and two dates: Check Activity prints two checks to a line. Each is its own row.
  • Check numbers and amounts swapped on a business statement: business Checks (-) prints Date, Amount, Check #, the reverse of the personal Check #, Amount, Date Paid.
  • Extra rows labelled “Total for this Period”: the overdraft and return fee summary box was read as activity.
  • A list of balances imported as transactions: the Balance Activity section is daily balances, not activity.
  • Older statements missing from online banking: Huntington keeps 24 months online. Earlier ones are requested from the bank.

Before you import

After converting a Huntington statement, check these

  • The month balancesBeginning Balance plus credits minus debits and fees equals the Ending Balance. If not, the difference is shown.
  • Every (-) section is negativeChecks, debit card purchases and other withdrawals are money out; deposits and other credits are money in.
  • One row per checkNo row with two check numbers or two dates, and no (*) or (S) left in the check number.
  • No fee summary rowsNothing labelled “Total for this Period” or “Total Year-to-Date”; the fees themselves are rows.
  • No Balance Activity rowsNothing from the daily balance section appears among the transactions.
  • Right layout for the accountBusiness statements read with Deposits (+), Other Credits (+), Checks (-) and Other Debits (-), not the personal headings.

Downloaded activity and statements are not the same thing

Every large US bank offers two different exports, and people reach for the wrong one constantly. Downloadable account activity — CSV, and often QFX or OFX — covers a recent window, typically a few months, and stops. Statements are PDFs, are issued per period, and go back years. If you need last March, the activity export will not have it and the statement will; converting the PDF is how that gap is closed.
Suggested format

CSV for Huntington

Huntington’s own download offers CSV, so a converted CSV slots into the same workflow, and a single signed amount column makes the (+) and (-) sections explicit and easy to check.
