The short answer
Can you export a First Citizens Bank statement to Excel?
Yes, in two ways. First Citizens lets you download transactions yourself: Digital Banking produces Web Connect .qbo and .qfx files, Digital Banking for Business downloads history in Excel formats, Commercial Advantage exports CSV, BAI and OFX, and Go by First Citizens exports CSV, OFX, QBO, QFX, PDF and BAI. Each covers a limited window. A statement that has to match exactly, or a period older than the download reaches, comes from the PDF, and converting it gives you the same Excel, CSV or QuickBooks file.
This page is about First Citizens Bank, the US bank (First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company), which has taken in CIT and Silicon Valley Bank. It is not First Citizens Bank of Trinidad and Tobago or any similarly named community bank.
Statements sit under Statements & Documents in Digital Banking, under eStatements in Commercial Advantage, and under Reports & Statements in Go by First Citizens. Each platform keeps a different amount of history, so save the PDFs you need before they age out.

What First Citizens lets you export
Each route has a job. Converting the statement is for everything the platform downloads do not reach.
Platform downloads
The platform’s window
Digital Banking: Web Connect .qbo and .qfx, and Excel for business. Commercial Advantage: BAI, CSV, OFX and MT940/942. Go: CSV, OFX, QBO, QFX, PDF and BAI.
Where it stops: About 13 months in Commercial Advantage, presets up to 90 days in Go, not published in Digital Banking, and never aligned to a statement period.
Statements
13 months to 7 years, by platform
Statements & Documents in Digital Banking, eStatements in Commercial Advantage, Reports & Statements in Go, and Commercial Image Archive for seven years.
Where it stops: A PDF only. Getting the rows into Excel or QuickBooks means converting it.
Converting the statement with VouchRow
Any statement you have
The PDF becomes rows in the format your software takes, checked against the statement’s totals, whether it carries the SVB or First Citizens name.
Where it stops: Needs the statement PDF. A period no platform still shows has to be requested from First Citizens first.

Each platform keeps a different stretch, and Digital Banking does not publish its figure.

Step by step
How to convert a First Citizens Bank statement
- 1Save the statements from your platformIn Digital Banking, open Statements & Documents. In Commercial Advantage, use eStatements search. In Go by First Citizens, open Reports & Statements, then Statements, where up to 100 account statements download at once.
- 2Keep each account together, whatever the logoFormer SVB accounts have SVB-branded statements from before the transition and First Citizens-branded ones after. They are the same account; batch them together.
- 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned paper statement is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
- 4Check each statement against its totalsThe rows must run from the opening balance to the closing balance and match the printed credit and debit totals. If not, VouchRow shows the dollar difference, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
- 5ExportExcel or CSV to review, QBO for QuickBooks, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.
Formats
Where is your First Citizens data going?
Pick the destination. The advice changes with it.
First Citizens Bank statement to Excel
An .xlsx with one row per deposit, wire, check and debit: date, description, check number where there is one, and a signed amount. Credits come out positive and debits negative, so the column sums to the change between opening and closing balance.
For a former SVB account, convert the SVB-branded and First Citizens statements in one batch and sort by date: the periods line up end to end, each starting where the last one closed.
PDF to ExcelFirst Citizens Bank statement to CSV
CSV suits an importer, a data room or an audit tool. Go and Commercial Advantage export CSV for their windows; a converted CSV follows each statement period exactly, with the same columns every month.
Choose the date format the importer expects before exporting; MM/DD/YYYY suits most US software.
PDF to CSVFirst Citizens Bank statement to QuickBooks
Export QBO and upload it to the bank account in QuickBooks Online (bank transactions, upload from file) or open it as a Web Connect file in Desktop, the same kind of file Digital Banking and Go produce.
First Citizens warns that overlapping dates in a new download can create duplicates. Converted rows carry transaction IDs, so where a converted period overlaps a downloaded one, QuickBooks recognises the repeats.
PDF to QBOFirst Citizens Bank statement to Quicken
QFX is Quicken’s Web Connect format, the one First Citizens’ Digital Banking downloads. Import it into the existing First Citizens account so older periods join the account rather than creating a new one.
QIF also works but has no transaction IDs, so a period imported twice will duplicate. Prefer QFX when the account already holds downloaded history.
PDF to QFXFirst Citizens Bank statement to Xero
Use the Xero CSV preset: one signed amount column and the date format Xero expects. Import it into the matching bank account in Xero, then reconcile as usual.
SVB-era and First Citizens statements for one account go into the same Xero bank account, so the history stays continuous across the rebrand.

Why it works
Built for First Citizens’ three platforms
Any platform’s statements
Digital Banking, Commercial Advantage and Go by First Citizens statements are each read as what they are and checked against their own totals.
SVB history joined up
SVB-branded statements from before the transition convert into the same account as the First Citizens ones that follow.
Past the platform’s window
Commercial Advantage keeps about 13 months of activity and Go three years of statements. Saved PDFs from before that convert the same way.
Checked against the totals
Opening balance plus credits minus debits must equal the closing balance, and a mismatch is shown in dollars.
Analysis statements kept apart
Account Analysis Statements are a fee breakdown. Only the analysis charge on the deposit statement belongs in the account.
Every row traced to its line
Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from, which is what an auditor or lender reviewing an SVB-era account needs.
Checked before export
A misread digit is caught on its own row
Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.
Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

SVB and CIT
What happened to Silicon Valley Bank and CIT statements
In Q4 2026 First Citizens moved its commercial brands under its own name. Silicon Valley Bank’s Technology and Healthcare Banking division is now First Citizens Innovation Banking, SVB Global Fund Banking is First Citizens Fund Banking, and CIT Commercial Services is First Citizens Working Capital Finance. All are divisions of First Citizens Bank.
Former SVB business clients use Go by First Citizens, the platform SVB’s own online help pages now redirect to. First Citizens says historical statements generated before the transition continue to display SVB branding, and that SVB accounts are not currently serviced in First Citizens branches. Go keeps up to three years of Deposit Account Statements and Account Analysis Statements, 24 months of loan and card statements, and up to seven years of statement history in total; anything not online is requested from your support team.
Former CIT treasury clients moved to Commercial Advantage, where First Citizens’ transition notes said the last 13 months of statements transferred automatically and records going back seven years are available on request.
Digital Banking
Personal and small business statements in Digital Banking
Personal Digital Banking offers paperless statements for First Citizens checking, savings, credit card and home equity line accounts, and the mobile app gives access to account statements and tax documents. Digital Banking for Business keeps statements and tax documents under Statements & Documents. First Citizens does not publish how many months of statements either keeps online; check Digital Banking for the earliest one shown.
Statements open in a pop-up window, so a pop-up blocker is the usual reason a statement will not display; First Citizens also suggests installing Adobe Acrobat Reader. Small businesses that need older statements and paid check images can use Commercial Image Archive, which keeps up to seven years of both.
QuickBooks and Quicken
First Citizens with QuickBooks and Quicken
First Citizens’ Intuit instructions cover QuickBooks Online through Express Web Connect or Web Connect, QuickBooks for Windows and Mac through Web Connect, and Quicken through Express Web Connect or Web Connect. For Web Connect, you download a .qbo or .qfx file from Digital Banking. In Digital Banking for Business, the Quicken file comes from the account’s Filter icon, a Custom Date range and the download arrow, choosing qfx.
Commercial Advantage downloads Quicken and QuickBooks data as OFX, alongside BAI, CSV and MT940/942. Go by First Citizens offers QBO, QFX and OFX for one account at a time; its default reporting period is the last 60 days, with presets up to 90 days and custom dates. For periods those downloads no longer reach, convert the statements to QBO or QFX and import them into the same account; transaction IDs keep any overlap from doubling.
Commercial
Commercial Advantage history and downloads
Commercial Advantage keeps about 390 days, or 13 months, of transaction activity. On statements, First Citizens’ own documents differ: the July 2026 navigation guide says statement history is limited to 13 months, while the Commercial Advantage FAQ says eStatement reports are available for up to 16 months. Save statements before the 13-month mark to be safe; older ones are requested from customer service.
Downloads come in BAI, CSV, Custom CSV, ISO cash management, Quicken/QuickBooks (OFX) and SWIFT MT940/MT942, depending on each user’s permissions. These cover the reporting window. Converting the statement PDFs covers every period you saved, in the same formats your software takes.
Troubleshooting
Common First Citizens conversion problems
Most First Citizens problems come from the platform changes rather than the statements themselves.
- Two QuickBooks accounts for one SVB account: SVB-branded and First Citizens-branded statements were imported as different banks. Map them to one account.
- Duplicates after reconnecting QuickBooks: First Citizens warns that overlapping dates in a new download can duplicate. QBO files with transaction IDs let QuickBooks spot the repeats.
- Analysis fees counted twice: the Account Analysis Statement was converted into the deposit account. Only the analysis charge on the deposit statement belongs there.
- Statements missing from Commercial Advantage: history is about 13 months there. Older statements are requested from First Citizens.
- A statement will not open: allow pop-ups for Digital Banking, then save the PDF before converting.
- Wrong bank: First Citizens Bank of Trinidad and Tobago is a different bank with different statements.

After converting a First Citizens statement, check these
- Each statement balancesOpening balance plus credits minus debits equals the closing balance. If not, the difference is shown.
- One account across the rebrandSVB-branded and First Citizens statements for the same account went into the same account in your software.
- No analysis statement rowsOnly the analysis fee is in the deposit account; the Account Analysis Statement is a breakdown.
- Wires and transfers kept wholeLong wire descriptions stay on one row with their amount, not split into extra lines.
- No overlap with downloadsWhere a converted period meets a downloaded one, QuickBooks or Quicken matched the repeats rather than adding them.
