The short answer
Can you export a Mercury bank statement to Excel?
Often you don’t need to convert anything. On the Transactions page, Mercury’s Export all (or Export filtered, after applying filters) downloads your transactions as .csv or .xlsx, and Excel opens either. In Documents & Data, each monthly statement row also offers a QuickBooks CSV or NetSuite CSV, pre-formatted for upload. If your books are in QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite, Mercury’s bank feed brings transactions in several times a day. When those routes do the job, use them.
The monthly statement PDF is the other record. Mercury generates one for each account between the 1st and 3rd of every month, with that account’s account and routing numbers and all its activity for the period. It is the document a lender asks for when underwriting a loan, the one an auditor ties a bank balance to, and the one a client emails a bookkeeper when they won’t share a login. A date-range export you ran yourself will not reproduce it to the cent.
Converting the statement also covers what Mercury’s exports don’t: QuickBooks Desktop, which Mercury’s QuickBooks integration does not support, Quicken, and QBO or QFX files with a transaction ID on every row. Each account is converted on its own and checked against the balances on its statement.

Native export
What Mercury lets you export
Mercury’s exports and feeds cover day-to-day bookkeeping. The statement is the record when the figures have to match it.
Transactions export and monthly CSVs
Not published
Export all or filtered transactions as .csv or .xlsx, or a QuickBooks CSV or NetSuite CSV for each monthly statement from Documents & Data.
Where it stops: No QBO, QFX or OFX file, and a date-range export will not carry the statement’s balances.
Bank feeds to QuickBooks Online, Xero and NetSuite
From the connection; Xero can sync historic data
Amount, description and date sync several times a day, with optional GL codes, classes, counterparties, receipts and notes from Mercury’s Accounting page.
Where it stops: QuickBooks Desktop is not supported, and the sync is one-way.
Converting the statement with VouchRow
Any statement you have
Each account’s PDF becomes rows in the format your software takes, checked against its balances, with every row linked to its line.
Where it stops: Needs the statement PDF. A month nobody saved has to come from Documents & Data first.
How far back
How far back each Mercury option reaches
Mercury does not publish how long it keeps statements or how far its export reaches. What it does say is below.
Monthly statements (PDF)
Not published
Listed by year per account in Documents & Data. Most stay available after an account closes; old partner-bank accounts sit under Inactive accounts.
Transactions export (CSV, XLSX)
Not published
Export all or Export filtered on the Transactions page. Mercury states no date limit.
Custom statement
Current month
A narrower date range within the current month, for proving a recent payment before the monthly statement is out.
A dashed bar means the bank does not publish a figure; check your own online banking.
Step by step
How to convert a Mercury bank statement
- 1Download the statements from MercuryClick your organization name in the top left of the dashboard and choose Documents & Data, or open an account and click View Statements. Pick the account from the dropdown, select the months and click Download.
- 2One Mercury account per batchChecking, savings and the IO card each have their own statements. Keep each account’s months together, and treat old partner-bank accounts (under Inactive accounts) as the earlier history of the account that replaced them.
- 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned or printed copy is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
- 4Check each monthThe opening balance plus the rows must equal the closing balance, and any balance printed beside a row is checked too. If a figure is off, VouchRow shows the dollar difference, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
- 5ExportExcel or CSV to review, QBO for QuickBooks Online or Desktop, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.

Mercury bank statement to Excel
An .xlsx with one row per transaction: date, description and a signed amount, deposits positive and withdrawals negative, for one Mercury account. Convert each account separately so transfers between them stay visible as pairs.
If all you need is a spreadsheet of recent activity, Mercury’s own XLSX export from the Transactions page does that. Convert the PDF when the sheet has to match the statement a lender or auditor holds.
PDF to ExcelMercury bank statement to CSV
CSV is for when another tool reads the file. Choose the date format the importer expects before you export, and keep one Mercury account per file.
A converted CSV has the same few columns for every account and every month, including months from an inactive partner-bank account.
PDF to CSVMercury bank statement to QuickBooks
Export QBO and import it into the matching bank account (in QuickBooks Online, upload from file under bank transactions; in Desktop, as Web Connect). Mercury’s integration does not support Desktop, so QBO is the route there.
Each row carries a transaction ID, so a converted month that overlaps the Mercury feed is recognised. The IO card goes into a credit card account, with charges as charges and payments as credits.
PDF to QBOMercury bank statement to Quicken
Convert to QFX and import into the Mercury account you already track, so the history joins it rather than creating a new account.
QIF also works, but it has no transaction IDs, so a month imported twice duplicates. Prefer QFX.
PDF to QFXMercury bank statement to Xero
Use the Xero CSV preset: one signed amount column and the date format Xero expects. Import it into the same bank account Mercury’s Xero feed uses, for months the feed did not bring in.
Give operating and savings their own bank accounts in Xero, so transfers between them reconcile as transfers.

How a Mercury statement is laid out
The facts to check against the statement in front of you. Accounts covered: Mercury business checking, Mercury business savings, IO card (Mercury’s corporate credit card), Accounts at an old partner bank, listed as Inactive accounts.
| Statement period | One statement per account per month, generated between the 1st and 3rd; custom statements can cover part of the current month |
|---|---|
| Header | The account and routing numbers of that one account, so each checking or savings account has its own statement |
| Running balance | Mercury does not publish its statement layout. Where your PDF prints a balance, each row is checked; otherwise the opening balance plus the rows must reach the closing balance |
| IO card statements | Charges and balances positive, payments and refunds negative (the reverse of the Transactions page) |
| Partner bank | Deposits are held by Choice Financial Group or Column N.A. Switching partner banks issues new account numbers |
Why it works
Built around how Mercury issues statements
One account, one file
Mercury issues a statement per account. Each converts as its own account, so operating, savings and payroll accounts land in their own registers.
Internal transfers counted once
A move from operating to savings appears on both statements. Kept in separate accounts, the pair reconciles as a transfer, not as spending and income.
IO card signed as a card
IO statements print charges positive and payments negative. In the export, charges are spending and payments are credits to the card, as QuickBooks and Xero expect.
Old and new partner-bank accounts
Statements from accounts at a previous partner bank convert the same way, so the months before a switch join the history of the account that replaced them.
Every row traced to its line
Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from. Useful when an auditor or lender asks where a wire or a Stripe payout came from.
QBO for QuickBooks Desktop
Mercury’s QuickBooks integration is for QuickBooks Online only. A converted QBO imports into Desktop as Web Connect, with a transaction ID per row.
Checked before export
A misread digit is caught on its own row
Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.
Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

Layout
What a Mercury bank statement contains
Mercury does not publish a sample statement, so compare the points here with your own PDF. Its help pages say each statement covers one account, carries that account’s account and routing numbers, and lists all transaction activity for the stated date range. Monthly statements are generated between the 1st and 3rd of each month. An account opened after the 1st has no statement until the following month; for the current month, Generate a custom statement produces one for a narrower range.
Because each statement is one account, a business with an operating account, a savings account and an IO card receives three documents a month. Mercury lets you select several statements and download them together, and it can also share selected statements with someone by email without you downloading them first, which is how many bookkeepers and lenders receive them.
IO card statements follow standard credit card conventions after a 2026 update: charges and balances positive, payments and refunds negative, autopay shown on the cover page rather than in the transaction list, and each starting balance equal to the previous statement’s ending balance. Mercury notes this is the reverse of how the Transactions page shows card activity.
Export or statement
Mercury’s exports vs the statement: which one to use
For your own books, Mercury’s exports are usually enough. Export all on the Transactions page gives CSV or XLSX; the QuickBooks CSV or NetSuite CSV on each statement row gives a month in a pre-formatted file; and the QuickBooks Online, Xero and NetSuite bank feeds sync several times a day, with optional GL codes, classes, receipts and notes added in Mercury. Mercury describes the QuickBooks and Xero syncs as one-way: changes made in the accounting software do not come back.
Convert the statement when the statement is the point. A lender underwriting a loan or line of credit, an auditor confirming a year-end balance, a tax preparer or a court will usually want the document Mercury issued, and rows that tie to it. A bookkeeper who receives PDFs from a client, rather than a Mercury login, has only the statements to work from. And for QuickBooks Desktop, which Mercury’s integration does not support, or for Quicken, a converted QBO or QFX is the direct route.
Partner banks
Mercury’s partner banks and inactive accounts
Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Its checking and savings accounts are provided through partner banks, Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC, and balances may be swept to other banks in a sweep network for expanded insurance. The IO card is issued by Patriot Bank, N.A. Each account is held at one partner bank, and the account’s details on the Accounts page show which.
When Mercury moves a business to another partner bank, it opens new accounts with new account numbers, transfers balances and recurring payments, keeps the old accounts open for a transition period of about 60 to 90 days, and then closes them. Transaction history and statements for the old accounts remain in Documents & Data, at the bottom of the accounts dropdown under Inactive accounts. For bookkeeping, convert those statements too and import them into the same ledger account as their replacement, so the year runs unbroken across the switch.
Accounting software
Mercury’s bank feeds and converted statements together
Many Mercury customers already have a feed into QuickBooks Online or Xero. Converted statements fill in around it: months before the feed was connected, a feed that was disconnected and reconnected (Mercury’s Xero integration, for one, disconnected accounts that did not complete a recent migration), or a client’s second set of books. In Xero, the connection asks whether to sync historic data or start from today; months it did not bring in can come from the statements.
QBO rows carry a transaction ID, so QuickBooks recognises a converted month that overlaps one the feed already imported. In Xero, import the converted CSV into the same bank account the feed uses, and reconcile the overlap once.
Troubleshooting
Common Mercury statement conversion problems
Most Mercury problems come from having several accounts, not from the PDF itself.
- Transfers to savings counted as spending: the operating and savings statements were combined into one account. Convert each account on its own.
- The year does not tie after a partner-bank switch: the old account’s statements are missing. Download them from Inactive accounts in Documents & Data.
- IO payments look like charges: the card statement was read the bank-account way. On a card, payments and refunds are credits.
- A month that begins at the wrong balance on an IO card: Mercury says the first statement after its 2026 format change may not match the previous ending balance, once.
- No statement for a new account: accounts opened after the 1st get their first statement the following month. Use a custom statement for the current month.
- QuickBooks Desktop will not connect: Mercury’s integration is for QuickBooks Online. Import a converted QBO as a Web Connect file.

Before you import
After converting a Mercury statement, check these
- Each account balancesBeginning balance plus the rows equals the ending balance, separately for every Mercury account.
- Transfers counted onceEach move between Mercury accounts appears as a pair across two accounts, not as income or spending.
- The switch month joins upAfter a partner-bank switch, the old account’s last balance and the new account’s first balance account for the transfer between them.
- IO card signed as a cardCharges negative and payments to the card positive in the export.
- No overlap with the feedMonths already brought in by the QuickBooks or Xero feed are not imported twice.
- Payouts match their sourceStripe or other payouts on the statement match the payout reports they came from.

Yes. On the Transactions page, choose Export all, or filter and choose Export filtered, then pick .csv or .xlsx. To get a statement PDF into Excel with its balances checked, convert it here.
Does Mercury work with QuickBooks?
Mercury connects to QuickBooks Online as a bank feed and also offers a QuickBooks CSV per monthly statement. Its integration does not support QuickBooks Desktop; for Desktop, convert the statement to QBO.
How far back can I get Mercury statements?
Mercury does not publish a retention period. Its help pages say most statements stay available after an account is closed, and that statements for accounts at a previous partner bank remain under Inactive accounts in Documents & Data.
Is Mercury a bank?
No. Mercury is a fintech company. Its checking and savings accounts are provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC, and the IO card is issued by Patriot Bank, N.A.
