Venmo personal, business and Venmo Credit Card statements
Convert a Venmo statement to Excel, CSV or QuickBooks
Venmo gives you a CSV statement for each month or quarter, three years back. Convert when what you have is a PDF, such as a Venmo Credit Card statement or a printed Venmo statement, or when the books need QBO or QFX.
- Venmo Credit Card PDFs signed the cardholder’s way
- Printed Venmo statements read with OCR
- QBO and QFX, which Venmo does not offer
- Every row linked to its line on the PDF

The short answer
Can you export Venmo transactions to Excel?
Yes, and Venmo does most of it for you. Under Statements (Settings, then Statements in the app; Statements in the sidebar on venmo.com), pick a month and year and choose Download CSV. Venmo’s statement is that CSV file: it opens in Excel as it is, and statements go back three years, in one-month or quarterly periods depending on how active the account is.
So when does converting help? When the statement you have is a PDF. The Venmo Credit Card, issued by Synchrony Bank, sends a statement every cycle to the email on the card account, and that statement is a document, not a CSV. Bookkeepers and lenders also receive Venmo statements as printouts or PDFs from clients and borrowers who saved the page instead of the file. And Venmo offers no QuickBooks or Quicken format, so anyone importing into accounting software has to produce QBO, QFX or a mapped CSV somehow.
If you do work from Venmo’s own CSV, know its shape before you import it: a title line naming the account and period, the beginning balance on a row of its own, amounts written as text such as “+ $650.00”, and the ending balance and fee totals at the bottom. Most import screens need that cleaned first.
Payments funded from your bank are on the statement but not in the Venmo balance

What Venmo lets you export
Venmo’s own CSV covers the balance well. The card statement and any PDF copies are where converting comes in.
Statements (Download CSV)
Last 3 years
One file per month or quarter with ID, Datetime, Type, Status, Note, From, To, amounts, funding source, destination and the period’s beginning and ending balance.
Where it stops: CSV only, laid out for reading rather than importing. No QBO, QFX or PDF.
Venmo Credit Card statements
Not published
Emailed each cycle and downloadable from the Venmo Credit Card section of the app, with the cycle’s charges, payments, fees and interest.
Where it stops: A document only. Getting the rows into Excel or QuickBooks means converting it.
Converting the statement with VouchRow
Any statement PDF you have
The PDF becomes one row per transaction, checked against the statement’s balances or summary totals, with every row linked to its line.
Where it stops: Works from a PDF or a scan. Venmo’s own CSV is a different file and is not uploaded here.
How far back
How far back each Venmo option reaches
Venmo publishes one figure, for account statements. For the card and the in-app feed it does not say.
Account statements (CSV)
3 years
In one-month or quarterly periods, depending on account activity, for personal accounts, business profiles and Teen Accounts.
Venmo Credit Card statements
Not published
Emailed every cycle and viewable in the app. Venmo does not say how many cycles the app keeps; save each one.
Transactions feed in the app
Not published
The Transactions toggle on the Me tab shows recent activity. For anything you need to keep, use the statement.
A dashed bar means the bank does not publish a figure; check your own online banking.
Step by step
How to convert a Venmo statement
- 1Get the statementFor your Venmo balance, download the CSV from Statements; if you only have a PDF or a printout, use that. For the Venmo Credit Card, open the Venmo Credit Card section of the app and choose View statements, or use the statement Venmo emails each cycle.
- 2Keep the card and the balance apartThe Venmo Credit Card is a credit account and your Venmo balance is a wallet. Convert and import them as two accounts, the way they appear in the books.
- 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital PDFs convert in batches. A scanned or photographed printout is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
- 4Check the totalsCard statements are checked against their summary totals, and a balance statement against its beginning and ending balance. If they disagree, VouchRow shows the dollar difference, and clicking a row shows its line on the PDF.
- 5ExportExcel or CSV to review, QBO for QuickBooks, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.
Formats
Where is your Venmo data going?
Pick the destination. The advice changes with it.
Venmo statement to Excel
If you have Venmo’s CSV, it opens in Excel already; delete the title lines and turn the Amount (total) text into numbers. If you have a PDF or a printout of a Venmo statement, convert it to an .xlsx with one row per transaction and money in positive, money out negative.
For Venmo Credit Card statements, the converted sheet has purchases, fees and interest negative and payments positive, so the column sums to the change in what you owe.
PDF to ExcelVenmo statement to CSV
A converted CSV has one header row and plain signed numbers, which is what budgeting apps and import screens expect. Choose the date format the importer wants before you export.
Check the funding source of each payment before importing, so payments made from your bank are left out of the Venmo account.
PDF to CSVVenmo statement to QuickBooks
Set up the Venmo balance as a bank account and the Venmo Credit Card as a credit card account in QuickBooks, and import a QBO file into each. Venmo offers no QBO of its own.
Each row carries a transaction ID, so overlapping months do not duplicate. Book business profile fees to a merchant fees account so sales stay at the gross the 1099-K reports.
PDF to QBOVenmo statement to Quicken
Venmo offers no Quicken download. Convert to QFX and import into a Venmo account in Quicken, and the card statements into a separate credit card account.
QFX carries a transaction ID per row; QIF does not, so a month imported twice in QIF will duplicate.
PDF to QFXVenmo statement to Xero
Use the Xero CSV preset: one signed amount column and the date format Xero expects. Import into a Venmo bank account in Xero, then reconcile.
Transfers to your bank appear in both the Venmo account and the bank account. Reconcile them as a transfer between the two, not as spending.

Why it works
Built around how Venmo records money
Bank-funded payments caught
Payments paid from a linked bank or card do not move the Venmo balance. Count them and the balance check shows the exact dollar difference, so they can be moved to the bank account where they belong.
Venmo Credit Card as a card
Exported the cardholder’s way: purchases, fees and interest negative, payments and refunds positive, which is what QuickBooks, Quicken and Xero expect.
Printouts read with OCR
A Venmo statement that reached you as a scan or a photographed printout is read with OCR, one at a time, and still linked line by line to the image.
Business fees visible
Venmo takes its business profile fee out of each payment before it reaches you. The fee stays visible, so sales can be booked at the amount the customer paid.
Every row traced to its line
Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from. Useful when a lender asks what a particular deposit was.
Files your software takes
Venmo stops at CSV. Converted statements export QBO and QFX with transaction IDs, so a month imported twice does not duplicate.
Checked before export
A misread digit is caught on its own row
Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.
Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

The CSV
What Venmo’s statement CSV contains
Venmo’s help center describes the account statement as “a detailed history of your Venmo transactions in a downloadable CSV file”, available for personal accounts, Teen Accounts, business profiles and charity profiles. On the web, a profile selector at the top of the Statements page switches between a personal account and a business profile. Teen Account statements are only available to the parent or guardian.
The file is not a plain table. It opens with an “Account Statement” title line naming the account and the period, then an “Account Activity” line, then the column headings, starting with ID, Datetime, Type, Status, Note, From and To, then Amount (total) with separate tip and fee columns, Funding Source, Destination, and Beginning Balance and Ending Balance. The first data row carries only the beginning balance; the ending balance and fee totals for the period and the year to date come at the end.
In the app, a file too large to download is emailed to you instead. On venmo.com you choose the month and year and select Download CSV.
Why it rarely imports cleanly
Venmo’s CSV vs a file your accounting software takes
Amounts are written as text with a sign, a space and a dollar sign, and the balance lives in two columns that are blank on almost every row. Payments funded from a bank or card are listed alongside balance payments. An import screen expecting one date, one description and one number per row either rejects the file or brings in the title and balance lines as transactions.
If you have the CSV and only need a spreadsheet, tidy it in Excel and you are done. If you need it in QuickBooks, Quicken or Xero, the file has to be mapped; see CSV to QBO for that route. For Venmo statements you hold as PDFs, converting produces the clean file directly.
Business profiles
Venmo business profiles, fees and the 1099-K
A business profile pays a fee on every payment of $1.00 or more: Venmo’s standard rate for payments from another Venmo account is 1.9% + $0.10, deducted automatically from what the customer sent. Tips added to payments are shown when you download the business profile’s statement from the web.
For goods and services payments, Venmo issues Form 1099-K for 2025 only when payments exceed $20,000 and there are more than 200 of them in the calendar year (some states set lower thresholds). Friends-and-family payments are excluded. The 1099-K reports gross amounts, before fees, so reconciling it needs the gross sales and the fees side by side; the monthly statements are where that detail is.
Tax forms are under Settings, then Tax Documents, in the app or on the website. Venmo’s estimated issue date for the 1099-K is January 31.
Venmo Credit Card
Venmo Credit Card statements
The Venmo Credit Card is issued by Synchrony Bank. Venmo says an electronic statement is always sent to the email on the card account, and statements can be viewed and downloaded in the Venmo Credit Card section of the app. Payment history is in the card’s Transactions tab and on the statement.
This is the Venmo document that most often needs converting: a card statement with a summary and a list of charges, which no CSV covers. Converted card rows are checked against the statement’s summary totals and exported the cardholder’s way, with purchases, fees and interest negative and payments positive. Venmo does not publish how many months of card statements the app keeps, so save them as they arrive.
Troubleshooting
Common Venmo statement problems
Most Venmo problems come from the CSV’s layout and from money that never touched the balance.
- The month will not reach the Ending Balance: bank- or card-funded payments were counted. They did not move the Venmo balance.
- A payment is counted twice in the books: it was funded from the bank and imported from both the Venmo statement and the bank statement.
- The importer rejects the amounts: Venmo writes them as text such as “+ $650.00”. They need to be plain signed numbers.
- Transactions appear at the wrong hour or date: the Datetime column carries no time zone. Late-evening payments can land on the next day.
- A file covers three months: Venmo issues quarterly statements for less active accounts. It is one statement, not three.
- No statement older than three years: that is as far back as Venmo’s statements go. Older periods only exist where someone saved them.

FAQ
Venmo statements: questions
Does Venmo provide statements?
Yes. Venmo’s account statement is a CSV file you download from Statements in the app (under Settings) or on venmo.com. The Venmo Credit Card has its own statements, emailed each cycle and viewable in the app.
How far back can I get Venmo statements?
Venmo says statements go back three years, in one-month or quarterly periods depending on account activity.
Can I export Venmo transactions to Excel?
Yes. Download the statement CSV and open it in Excel. If what you have is a PDF or a printout of a Venmo statement, convert it here to Excel instead.
Is there a Venmo statement as a PDF?
Venmo’s help pages describe the account statement only as a CSV file. The Venmo Credit Card statement is a document you can download from the app. VouchRow converts PDFs to spreadsheets and accounting files; it does not create PDFs.
Can I download Venmo transactions into Quicken or QuickBooks?
Venmo does not offer a Quicken or QuickBooks file. Convert a Venmo statement PDF to QFX for Quicken or QBO for QuickBooks, or map Venmo’s CSV with a CSV to QBO tool.
Why doesn’t my Venmo statement add up to the ending balance?
Payments funded from a linked bank account or card are listed on the statement but did not pass through the Venmo balance. Leave them out and the rows reconcile.
How do I get statements for my Venmo business profile?
On venmo.com, open Statements and use the profile selector at the top of the page to choose the business profile. Tips on business payments show in the web download.
When does Venmo send a 1099-K?
For 2025, when goods and services payments exceed $20,000 and number more than 200 in the year, unless your state sets a lower threshold. Venmo’s estimated issue date is January 31, under Settings, Tax Documents.
