The short answer

Can you export Cash App transactions to Excel?

For a business account, partly: Cash App sends business accounts a Transactions CSV for the tax year, next to the 1099-K, under Documents. For personal activity, Cash App’s help pages describe a monthly account statement and an Activity list you can search and filter, but no CSV export. Some third-party guides describe an Export CSV button on the web Activity page; Cash App’s own help does not, so check your account before relying on it.

The monthly statement is always there. In the app, tap the Profile icon, then Documents, then Account Statements; on the web, log in at cash.app/account and choose Documents, then Account statements, pick the year and select View next to the month. Cash App says statements are available within 5 business days of month end, and each one has your starting and ending balance, fees, transaction history, direct deposit details and your account and routing numbers.

Converting that statement gives you the rows in Excel, CSV or QuickBooks, checked against the starting and ending balance. It is also the document a lender, a landlord or a court usually asks for, rather than a screenshot of the Activity tab.

Watch for this

Money out has no minus sign

On a Cash App statement, money coming in is printed with a plus sign (“+ $77.80”) and money going out is printed with no sign at all (“$45.00”). A converter that treats an unsigned number as a positive one turns every payment you sent, every Cash App Card purchase and every transfer to your bank into income. The month then looks like a windfall, and an income review built on it is badly wrong. The Fee column adds a second trap: where Cash App charged a fee on a payment, it sits in its own column next to an Amount that is already what reached the balance, so adding the two counts the fee twice.

How far back

How far back each Cash App option reaches

Cash App publishes figures for its transaction history, but not for how many monthly statements it keeps.

Activity history in the app and on the web

24 months

Cash App’s terms say you can view a 12-month and 24-month history of transactions in the app or at cash.app/account.

Written history on request

At least 24 months

The Cash App Card agreement gives the right to at least 24 months of written history, by phone or by mail.

Monthly account statements

Not published

Listed by year under Documents, Account statements. Cash App does not say how many years it keeps.

A dashed bar means the bank does not publish a figure; check your own online banking.

Step by step

How to convert a Cash App statement

  1. 1Download the statements from Cash AppIn the app: Profile icon, Documents, Account Statements. On the web: cash.app/account, Documents, Account statements, open the year and select View next to each month you need.
  2. 2One Cash App account per batchKeep each $Cashtag’s statements together. A personal account and a business account are separate accounts in the books.
  3. 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned or printed copy is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
  4. 4Check the monthStarting balance plus money in, minus money out, must equal the ending balance. If not, VouchRow shows the dollar difference, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
  5. 5ExportExcel or CSV for a review, QBO for QuickBooks, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.

Cash App statement to Excel

An .xlsx with one row per transaction: date with the year filled in, description, details and a signed amount, money in positive and money out negative. The starting balance plus the column equals the ending balance on the statement.

For an income review, filter the rows whose details say direct deposit and total them by month. Cash App payments from friends and transfers from your own bank are not wages.

Why it works

Built around how Cash App prints a statement

Unsigned means money out

Cash App marks money in with a plus sign and leaves money out unsigned. Converted files put money out as negative, which is what every importer expects.

Fees not counted twice

Where Cash App charged a fee, the Fee column shows it and the Amount is already what reached the balance. The amount is taken as printed and the fee kept visible beside it.

The right year on every row

Rows print the month and day only. The year comes from the statement month, so a December statement stays in the right year.

Repeated headings skipped

The Date, Description, Details, Fee and Amount headings repeat on every page. They are skipped, not read as rows.

Every row traced to its line

Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from. A reviewer can check any deposit without paging through the statement.

Direct deposits easy to total

Payroll and benefit deposits come out as positive rows, ready to total by month for an income review.

Checked before export

A misread digit is caught on its own row

Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.

Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

Layout

How to read a Cash App statement

Cash App does not publish a sample statement, so this describes how Cash App statements have printed in recent years; compare it with yours. Page one gives the month, your account details and the balance at the start and end of the month with the change between them, along with money in, money out and fees for the month.

The transaction pages have five columns: Date, Description, Details, Fee and Amount. Description is the person or merchant; Details is what kind of transaction it was, such as a Cash App payment, a Cash Card purchase, a direct deposit or a transfer. Dates print as month and day (“Sep 4”), and the statement notes that all transactions are shown in Eastern Time. The column headings repeat at the top of each page.

Cash App says the statement also carries direct deposit details and your account and routing numbers, which is why landlords and lenders accept it more readily than a screenshot.

Statement or Activity

Cash App’s Activity tab and CSVs vs the statement

The Activity tab, in the app and at cash.app/account, lists everything that moved through the account: peer-to-peer payments, Cash App Card purchases, savings, bitcoin and transfers. You can search it and filter by date or amount. Cash App’s terms say you can view your 12-month and 24-month history there. It is a screen, not a file.

Business accounts receive a Transactions CSV for the tax year alongside the Form 1099-K, and bitcoin activity has its own Transactions CSV. If one of those covers what you need, use it. They are tax-year files, though, not monthly statements, and they do not cover a personal account’s everyday spending.

For anything older than the Activity history, the Cash App Card agreement gives you the right to at least 24 months of written transaction history on request, by phone or by mail. Statements you saved yourself can be converted at any time.

Proof of income

Cash App statements for lenders, landlords and courts

People paid through Cash App direct deposit often have no other bank statement to show. Cash App’s statement carries the account and routing numbers and the direct deposit details, and it is a monthly document with an opening and closing balance, which is what an underwriter expects.

Converted, it gives a reviewer the deposits as rows, ready to total by month, with every row linked to its line on the PDF and the month checked against the opening and closing balance. Money received from friends is a Cash App payment, not a direct deposit; the Details column shows which is which.

Who holds the money

Cash App, Sutton Bank and the Cash App Card

Cash App calls itself a financial services platform, not a bank. Prepaid Cash App Cards are issued by Sutton Bank, Member FDIC, and Cash App Visa Debit Flex Cards by Sutton Bank or The Bancorp Bank, N.A. Savings balances are held at Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. for the benefit of Cash App customers.

Cash App Card spending is paid from your Cash App balance, so card purchases appear on the Cash App statement as money out, marked as Cash Card in the Details column. Transfers between Cash App and an outside bank appear on both statements, which Cash App points out, so match them rather than counting them twice.

Troubleshooting

Common Cash App statement conversion problems

Most Cash App errors come from the signs and the extra Fee column.

  • Spending shows as income: unsigned amounts were read as positive. On Cash App, unsigned means money out.
  • Fees counted twice: the Fee column was subtracted from an Amount that was already net of it.
  • Column headings in the middle of the data: the Date, Description, Details, Fee, Amount line repeats on every page.
  • January rows in the wrong year: rows print month and day only. The year has to come from the statement month.
  • A late-evening payment lands on the next day: Cash App shows times in Eastern Time, which may not be your zone.
  • A transfer appears twice in the books: it is on the Cash App statement and on your bank statement. Match the two as one transfer.

Before you import

After converting a Cash App statement, check these

  • The month balancesStarting balance plus money in, minus money out, equals the ending balance. If not, the difference is shown.
  • Money out is negativePayments sent, Cash Card purchases and transfers to your bank are negative, not income.
  • Fees not doubledFees appear beside their payments, and the amounts are as printed, already net of them.
  • No heading rowsNo Date, Description, Details, Fee, Amount lines among the transactions.
  • Dates in the right yearEvery row carries the statement’s year, and December statements stay in December.
  • Transfers matchedEach transfer to or from a bank appears once in the books, matched against the bank statement.

Downloaded activity and statements are not the same thing

Every large US bank offers two different exports, and people reach for the wrong one constantly. Downloadable account activity — CSV, and often QFX or OFX — covers a recent window, typically a few months, and stops. Statements are PDFs, are issued per period, and go back years. If you need last March, the activity export will not have it and the statement will; converting the PDF is how that gap is closed.
Suggested format
