Convert a Bank of America credit card statement to Excel, CSV or QuickBooks
Bank of America’s card download covers 12 months, and its Quicken file stopped importing in 2025. The statements reach further back. Convert the PDFs to get any cycle into Excel, CSV or QuickBooks, checked against the Account Summary.
- Account Summary used as the proof, not as rows
- Zero-amount interest lines left out
- Transaction date or posting date, one basis all year

The short answer
Can you download a Bank of America credit card statement to Excel?
Partly. Bank of America’s credit card FAQ says Online Banking lets you request up to 12 months of detailed transaction information and download transactions for use with financial management software. That gives you a spreadsheet file for the last year. The statement itself only comes as a PDF, and anything older than 12 months, or anything that has to match a billing cycle to the cent, has to come from the statement.
The Quicken route has also changed. According to Quicken’s announcement of September 30, 2025, Bank of America discontinued all of its OFX services, ending Direct Connect and Web Connect: a QFX file from Bank of America now fails to import with an error. Users in Intuit’s community report the same for QuickBooks Web Connect files. So for many card accounts, the download is now a spreadsheet and nothing else.
Converting the PDF statement gives you Excel, CSV, QBO or QFX for any cycle you can open. A card statement has no running balance, so each converted cycle is checked against the Account Summary instead: previous balance, minus payments and other credits, plus purchases and adjustments, fees and interest, must equal the New Balance Total.
Interest lines print every month, even at zero, and every row has two dates

Native export
What Bank of America lets you export from a credit card
Since September 2025 the download has fewer formats. The statements are unchanged.
Download transactions in Online Banking
Up to 12 months
A spreadsheet file of the card transactions for the dates you choose, for use in Excel or financial software.
Where it stops: Nothing older than 12 months, no statement totals, and the Quicken (QFX) file no longer imports since Bank of America ended its OFX services.
Statements & Documents
Up to 3 years listed; up to 7 by request
One PDF per billing cycle, with the Account Summary, every transaction, fees, interest, year-to-date totals and the Interest Charge Calculation.
Where it stops: A PDF only. Requested copies vanish after 7 days if you don’t save them.
Converting the statement with VouchRow
Any statement you have
The PDF becomes rows in the format your software takes, checked against the Account Summary, with every row linked to its line.
Where it stops: Needs the statement PDF. A cycle you never saved has to come from Bank of America first.
How far back
How far back each Bank of America option reaches
Bank of America separates card activity from card statements, and the two reach back very different distances.
Card activity download
12 months
Bank of America’s card FAQ: request up to 12 months of detailed transaction information. You pick the dates, so it rarely matches a cycle.
Card statements to view and print
Up to 3 years
Per the card FAQ, under Statements & Documents. Bank of America’s Statements & Documents page says up to 7 years for eligible accounts.
Statements including Request statements
Up to 7 years
Copies beyond what is listed can be requested, up to 7 years back. Electronic copies stay available for 7 days.

Step by step
How to convert a Bank of America credit card statement
- 1Save the statements from Statements & DocumentsIn Online Banking, open the card’s Account details page and choose the Statements & Documents tab. In the Mobile Banking app, select the card, then Statements & Documents. Download each statement you need as a PDF.
- 2Request anything olderIf a cycle is not listed, use Request statements in Statements & Documents. Bank of America says electronic copies arrive in 24 to 36 hours and stay available for 7 days, so save them as soon as they appear.
- 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs, one card account per batch. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned paper statement is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
- 4Check each cycle against the Account SummaryThe rows must add back to the New Balance Total. If they do, the cycle shows as balanced. If not, VouchRow shows the difference in dollars, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
- 5ExportExcel or CSV to review, QBO for a QuickBooks credit card account, QFX for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.
Formats
Where is your Bank of America card data going?
Pick the destination. The advice changes with it.
Bank of America credit card statement to Excel
An .xlsx with one row per transaction: the date basis you chose, the description with the card’s Account Number, and one signed amount. The export is written from your side of the card: purchases, fees and interest negative, payments and refunds positive, the reverse of how the statement prints them.
A year of statements converts in one batch, one file per statement. Sort by date and the cycles run end to end, because each starts where the last New Balance Total left off.
PDF to ExcelBank of America credit card statement to CSV
Use CSV when another tool will read the file. Choose the date format the importer expects before you export; an importer set for DD/MM will misplace MM/DD dates.
Bank of America’s own spreadsheet download covers 12 months and starts and ends on the dates you pick. A converted CSV covers whole cycles, with the same columns every time.
PDF to CSVBank of America credit card statement to QuickBooks
Export QBO and import it into the credit card account (in QuickBooks Online, upload from file under bank transactions; in Desktop, as a Web Connect file). With Bank of America’s own Web Connect gone, this is the file-based route for card cycles.
Each row carries a transaction ID, so a converted cycle that overlaps what a bank feed already brought in is recognised rather than duplicated. Charges arrive as charges and payments as credits to the card.
PDF to QBOBank of America credit card statement to Quicken
Since September 30, 2025, Quicken rejects QFX files downloaded from Bank of America. A QFX converted from the statement is a separate file with its own bank ID, and it imports into the existing card account rather than creating a new one.
Use Express Web Connect+ for new activity and converted QFX for the cycles before it. QIF also works, but it has no transaction IDs, so a cycle imported twice will duplicate.
PDF to QFXBank of America credit card statement to Xero
Use the Xero CSV preset: one signed amount column and the date format Xero expects. Import it into the credit card account in Xero, then reconcile as usual.
Charges come out negative and payments and refunds positive, which is how Xero expects statement lines on a credit card account.

| Date format | MM/DD, two dates per row (Transaction Date and Posting Date); the year comes from the Statement Closing Date |
|---|---|
| Running balance | None. Each cycle is proved against the Account Summary |
| Amount column | One Amount column: charges positive, payments and credits printed with a minus sign |
| Activity groups | Payments and Other Credits, Purchases and Adjustments, Fees, Interest Charged, each with a “TOTAL … FOR THIS PERIOD” line |
| More than one card | An Account Number column shows which card each row belongs to; business statements add a Cardholder Activity Summary |
Why it works
Built around how Bank of America prints a card statement
The Account Summary is the proof
Previous Balance, Payments and Other Credits, Purchases and Adjustments, Fees Charged, Interest Charged and New Balance Total are read as the cycle’s totals and kept out of the rows.
No zero-interest clutter
The “INTEREST CHARGED ON PURCHASES 0.00” lines that print every month are left out. Interest that was actually charged comes through as its own row.
Two dates, one choice
Every row has a Transaction Date and a Posting Date. Pick the one your books use and it is applied to every cycle, so a year of statements stays on one date basis.
Digits kept out of the amount
The Reference Number and Account Number columns are read as identifiers, not money, so a four-digit reference never lands in the amount column.
Every row traced to its line
Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from, which is how a reviewer checks a Bank of America cycle without paging through it.
Past the 12-month download
Statements you saved, requested or kept from a closed card convert the same way, so a full tax year or an older dispute period is not limited by the download.
Checked before export
A misread digit is caught on its own row
Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.
Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

Layout
How a Bank of America credit card statement is laid out
Page one carries the Payment Information (New Balance Total, Minimum Payment Due, Payment Due Date and the late payment warning) and the Account Summary: Previous Balance, Payments and Other Credits, Balance Transfer Activity, Cash Advance Activity, Purchases and Adjustments, Fees Charged, Interest Charged and New Balance Total, followed by Credit Limit, Credit Available, Statement Closing Date and Days in Billing Cycle. Rewards cards add a rewards summary. None of these lines are transactions.
The Transactions section has six columns: Transaction Date, Posting Date, Description, Reference Number, Account Number and Amount. Rows are grouped under Payments and Other Credits, Purchases and Adjustments, Fees and Interest Charged, and each group ends with a total, such as “TOTAL PURCHASES AND ADJUSTMENTS FOR THIS PERIOD”. Payments and credits carry a minus sign; purchases do not.
After the groups comes a year-to-date box (“2026 Totals Year-to-Date”, with total fees and total interest charged in the year) and the Interest Charge Calculation table of rates and balances subject to interest. Both are summaries. The “TOTAL … FOR THIS PERIOD” lines are subtotals. All of them are used as checks and none becomes a row.
Business cards
Bank of America business card statements
Business card statements (the Company Statement on a corporate account) use slightly different labels: Payments and Other Credits, Purchases and Other Charges, Fees Charged and Finance Charge in the Account Summary, with totals such as “TOTAL PURCHASES AND OTHER CHARGES FOR THIS PERIOD” and “TOTAL FINANCE CHARGE FOR THIS PERIOD”. The columns are Posting Date, Transaction Date, Description, Reference Number and Amount, and the reference numbers are long (23 digits).
A Cardholder Activity Summary lists each employee card’s payments, purchases, fees and total activity in a grid, and the transactions are then printed card by card, each block with its own totals. The grid and the per-card totals are subtotals. Read as rows, they count each employee’s spending twice; skipped, they let each block be checked on its own. Hotel lines can carry an extra “Arr:” line with the arrival date, which is detail, not a second charge.
Quicken and QuickBooks
What changed in September 2025
Quicken announced that Bank of America discontinued all OFX services on September 30, 2025, so Direct Connect and Web Connect (QFX files) stopped working for Bank of America accounts. Importing a Bank of America QFX now gives an error, and Express Web Connect+ (a connection made from inside Quicken) is the supported route. Quicken’s suggested workaround is to import a correctly formatted CSV.
For QuickBooks Desktop, users in Intuit’s community report that the Bank of America Web Connect listing stopped working and that the bank’s site no longer offers a QBO file for their accounts. Bank of America has not published a format list for card downloads, so check what your account offers. Either way, a connected feed only backfills a short window, which is why card cycles from before the connection usually come from statements.
A QBO or QFX converted from the statement imports like a Web Connect file into the existing credit card account. Each row carries a transaction ID, so a converted cycle that overlaps a feed import does not duplicate.
Authorised users
Statements with more than one card
On a personal card with authorised users, every row is printed in the same Transactions list, and the Account Number column holds the last four digits of the card that made it. That column is the only way to split spending by cardholder, so it is kept in the description of each converted row.
Keep the digits in the right place: the Reference Number and the Account Number are both short numbers printed just before the Amount. Converted rows take the amount from the Amount column only, and the cycle check against the Account Summary catches any row where a digit column was misread.
Troubleshooting
Common Bank of America card conversion problems
Most Bank of America card errors come from the summary blocks, the two dates and the 2025 download change.
- Three or four zero rows at the end of every month: the Interest Charged lines were read as transactions. They print even at 0.00.
- Rows dated a day or two off from the bank’s download: the statement has a Transaction Date and a Posting Date. Pick one basis and keep it for the year.
- A purchase shows an amount like 4106.00: the Reference Number was read as the amount. The cycle will not balance, which is how the check finds it.
- Quicken error when importing a Bank of America QFX: Bank of America ended Web Connect on September 30, 2025. Use Express Web Connect+ for new activity and a converted QFX for older cycles.
- The download stops a year back: Bank of America describes 12 months of detailed card transactions. Older cycles are in the statements, or by Request statements.
- A requested statement disappeared: electronic copies from Request statements are available for 7 days. Save them when they arrive.

| Proof for a reviewer | A list of rows | Every row linked to its line on the PDF |
Before you import
After converting a Bank of America card statement, check these
- The cycle balancesPrevious balance plus the rows equals the New Balance Total on the Account Summary. If not, the difference is shown.
- No zero interest rowsNo “INTEREST CHARGED ON …” lines at 0.00 among the transactions, and no year-to-date totals.
- Payments are creditsThe monthly payment and any returns should be positive in the export (credits in QuickBooks), not charges.
- One date basisEvery cycle uses the same date, Transaction Date or Posting Date. Mixing them shifts rows across month ends.
- Amounts are amountsNo four-digit reference or account numbers in the amount column. The cycle check fails if one slipped in.
- Business blocks not doubledOn a business card, no Cardholder Activity Summary lines or per-card totals among the rows.

FAQ
Bank of America card statements: questions
Can you download Bank of America credit card statements to Excel?
Not the statement itself: Bank of America issues it as a PDF. You can download up to 12 months of card transactions as a spreadsheet file from Online Banking. For a full statement, or anything older, save the PDF and convert it here to Excel or CSV, checked against the Account Summary.
How do I download Bank of America credit card statements?
In Online Banking, open the card’s Account details page and choose the Statements & Documents tab. In the Mobile Banking app, select the card and then Statements & Documents. From there you can download, print or email each statement.
How far back can I get Bank of America credit card statements?
Bank of America’s card FAQ says you can view and print up to 3 years of card statements, and its Statements & Documents page says up to 7 years are available for eligible accounts. Older copies, up to 7 years back, can be ordered with Request statements.
Can I download Bank of America credit card transactions to QuickBooks?
Bank of America’s Web Connect files stopped working in September 2025, according to Quicken and to users in Intuit’s community. Convert the statement PDF to QBO and import it into the credit card account in QuickBooks, or use the CSV download with QuickBooks’ CSV import.
Why do I get an error importing a Bank of America QFX into Quicken?
Quicken announced that Bank of America discontinued its OFX services on September 30, 2025, which ended Web Connect (QFX) and Direct Connect. Express Web Connect+ is the supported connection. For older cycles, a QFX converted from the statement imports into the same account.
What does a Bank of America credit card statement look like?
Page one has the Payment Information and the Account Summary. The Transactions section lists Transaction Date, Posting Date, Description, Reference Number, Account Number and Amount, grouped into payments and credits, purchases and adjustments, fees and interest, each with a total, then year-to-date totals and the Interest Charge Calculation.
Does a Bank of America card statement have a running balance?
No. Converted rows are checked against the Account Summary instead: previous balance, minus payments and other credits, plus purchases and adjustments, fees and interest, must equal the New Balance Total.
My Bank of America statement PDF has a password. Can I still convert it?
Yes. Enter the password when you upload. The PDF is unlocked in your browser and the password is never sent to us.
