The short answer
Can you export a Chase credit card statement to Excel?
You can export the last two years of Chase card activity yourself: on chase.com, Chase offers transactions as a spreadsheet (CSV), Quicken (QFX), Quicken or Microsoft Money (QIF) or QuickBooks (QBO) file. Anything older, and anything that has to match a statement exactly, comes from the PDF statement, and converting it gives you the same Excel, CSV or QuickBooks file.
Chase keeps up to seven years of statements online, depending on the account type, under Statements & documents. Those PDFs are the complete record. The activity download is not: it is a window of dates you pick, so it rarely starts and ends on the billing cycle, and it does not reach back past two years.
A converted Chase card statement has no running balance to check against, so each cycle is checked against the Account Summary on page one instead: previous balance, plus purchases, cash advances, balance transfers, fees and interest, minus payments and credits, must equal the new balance.
The account summary looks like transactions, and payments carry a minus sign

What Chase lets you export from a credit card
Each route has a job. Converting the statement is for everything the download does not reach.
Activity download on chase.com
The last two years
A spreadsheet (CSV), Quicken Web Connect (QFX), Quicken or Microsoft Money (QIF), or QuickBooks Web Connect (QBO) file for the dates you choose.
Where it stops: Nothing older than two years, and the dates you pick are not the billing cycle, so the file will not match a statement.
Statements & documents
Up to 7 years
One PDF per billing cycle, with the Account Summary, every transaction, fees, interest and the interest charges table.
Where it stops: A PDF only. Getting the rows into Excel or QuickBooks means converting it.
Converting the statement with VouchRow
Any statement you have
The PDF becomes rows in the format your software takes, checked against the Account Summary, with every row linked to its line.
Where it stops: Needs the statement PDF. A cycle you never saved has to come from Chase first.
How far back
How far back each Chase option reaches
Chase offers three ways to get card data out, and they cover very different stretches of time.
Activity download (CSV, QFX, QIF, QBO)
2 years
Chase says the desktop download covers the last two years. You pick the dates, so it rarely lines up with a billing cycle.
Transactions as PDF in the mobile app
Last calendar year
The Chase Mobile app can download a PDF of transactions for the last calendar year.
Statements (PDF)
Up to 7 years
Under Statements & documents, depending on the account type. Every cycle, exactly as Chase issued it.

Step by step
How to convert a Chase credit card statement
- 1Save the statement PDFs from ChaseOn chase.com, open the main menu and choose Statements & documents, pick the year and the card, and save each statement you need. In the Chase Mobile app the same list is under Profile & Settings, then Statements & documents.
- 2One card account per batchKeep each card account’s statements together. Authorised users’ cards are part of the primary account’s statement and come out of the same PDF.
- 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned paper statement is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
- 4Check each cycle against the summaryThe rows must add back up to the Account Summary. If they do, the cycle shows as balanced. If not, VouchRow shows the difference, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
- 5ExportExcel or CSV to review, QBO for a QuickBooks credit card account, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.

Where is your Chase card data going?
Pick the destination. The advice changes with it.
Chase credit card statement to Excel
An .xlsx with one row per transaction: date, description and a signed amount, written from your side of the card: purchases, fees and interest negative (money spent), payments and credits positive. That is the reverse of how the statement prints them, and it is what accounting software expects. The rows net to the change between the previous balance and the new balance.
For a year of statements, convert them in one batch and you get one file per statement; sort by date and the cycles line up end to end, because each one starts where the last one closed.
PDF to ExcelChase credit card statement to CSV
CSV is the one to use when another tool will read the file: a budgeting app, a spreadsheet script or an import screen. Choose the date format the importer expects before you export; an importer set for DD/MM will reject or misplace MM/DD dates.
Chase’s own CSV covers two years. A converted CSV covers whichever statements you upload, with the same columns every time.
PDF to CSVChase credit card statement to QuickBooks
Export QBO and import it into the credit card account in QuickBooks (in QuickBooks Online, under bank transactions, upload from file; in Desktop, as a Web Connect file). Chase offers QBO in its own download for the last two years, so older cycles converted to QBO land in the same account the same way.
Each row carries a transaction ID, so if a converted cycle overlaps a downloaded one, QuickBooks recognises the repeats. Charges arrive as charges and payments as credits to the card.
PDF to QBOChase credit card statement to Quicken
QFX is Quicken’s Web Connect format and the one Chase itself offers. Import it into the existing Chase card account so the history joins the account you already have rather than creating a new one.
QIF also works, and Chase offers it too, but QIF has no transaction IDs, so a cycle imported twice will duplicate. Prefer QFX when you can.
PDF to QFXChase credit card statement to Xero
Use the Xero CSV preset: one signed amount column and the date format Xero expects. Import it into the credit card account in Xero, then reconcile as usual.
Converted Chase rows are signed from your side of the card: spending negative, payments and refunds positive, which is how Xero expects a credit card account’s statement lines.

Why it works
Built around how Chase prints a card statement
The summary is proof, not rows
Previous Balance, Purchases, Fees Charged and the rest are read as the cycle’s totals and kept out of the transaction list.
Card signs, read as a card
Payments and credits print with a minus sign on a Chase card statement. In the export they come out as payments and charges as spending, the way QuickBooks, Xero and Quicken expect a card account.
Fees and interest as rows
Annual fees, foreign transaction fees and purchase interest sit in their own groups. Each becomes its own row, ready to label as a finance charge.
The right year on every row
Chase prints MM/DD only. The year comes from the Opening/Closing Date, so a cycle that runs from December into January puts each row in the right year.
Every row traced to its line
Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from. A reviewer can check any figure without leafing through pages.
Older and closed cards
Any statement you saved converts the same way, including cycles past the two-year download and cards you have since closed.
Checked before export
A misread digit is caught on its own row
Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.
Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

Layout
How a Chase credit card statement is laid out
Page one carries the Account Summary (Previous Balance, Payment and Credits, Purchases, Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Fees Charged, Interest Charged, New Balance), the Opening/Closing Date of the cycle, the credit and cash access lines, and Payment Information with the minimum payment and due date. Sapphire and Freedom statements usually add a rewards summary box beside it. None of these are transactions.
Account Activity follows, with three columns: Date of Transaction, Merchant Name or Transaction Description, and $ Amount. It is grouped under headings: payments and other credits first, then purchases, then cash advances and balance transfers where there are any. Fees charged and interest charged come last, each with a total for the period, followed by year-to-date totals of fees and interest. Those year-to-date lines are another summary that looks like a transaction list.
An Interest Charges table closes the statement: balance type, annual percentage rate, balance subject to interest and the interest charged on each. Its figures are rates and averages, not activity, and are left out of the rows.
Authorised users
Statements with more than one card
When an account has authorised users, Chase lists activity by card, and each card gets a subtotal line that names the cardholder and the card ending, “Transactions this cycle”, with an amount. That line is a subtotal (net of payments, and sometimes printed with a trailing minus sign), not a purchase. Read as a row, it counts that card’s activity twice.
The converted file keeps every purchase as its own row and skips the subtotals, so the cycle still ties to the Account Summary. If you need spending split by cardholder, for an expense report or a divorce file, the description and the source-line link show which block each row came from.
Foreign spending
Purchases in another currency
A purchase made in another currency is charged in US dollars, and the statement adds detail under it: the amount in the original currency and the exchange rate. Only the dollar amount on the transaction line is the charge. If a converted file ever shows the foreign amount as a separate row, it will not balance against the summary, which is how the check catches it.
Foreign transaction fees, on cards that charge them, appear in Fees Charged as their own rows, so they can be labelled separately from the purchases they relate to.
Business cards
Chase Ink and business card statements
Ink Business cards follow the same summary-then-activity layout, often with several employee cards on one account. For bookkeeping, convert to QBO and import into the credit card account in QuickBooks, or to CSV for Xero. Employee card subtotals are skipped the same way as authorised users on personal cards.
If the business has linked the card to accounting software already, converted statements fill in the cycles from before the link, or any month the feed missed. QBO files carry a transaction ID per row, so importing the same cycle twice does not duplicate it.
Troubleshooting
Common Chase card conversion problems
Most Chase card errors come from the summary and the signs.
- Eight extra rows at the top of every month: the Account Summary was read as transactions. Those lines are the cycle totals.
- Payments show as purchases: the minus sign on payments was read the bank-account way. On a card, a negative amount is a credit to you.
- The cycle total is double: a “Transactions this cycle” subtotal for a card was read as a row.
- January rows dated in the wrong year: the statement prints MM/DD only. The year has to come from the Opening/Closing Date.
- Download stops two years back: that is the limit of Chase’s activity download. Older cycles are in the statements.

Before you import
After converting a Chase card statement, check these
- The cycle balancesPrevious balance plus the rows equals the new balance on the Account Summary. If not, the difference is shown.
- Payments are creditsIn the export, your monthly payment and any returns are positive and purchases negative. In QuickBooks they land as payments and charges on the card account.
- No subtotal rowsNo “Transactions this cycle” lines and no year-to-date totals among the transactions.
- Dates in the right yearOn a December to January cycle, the December rows are in the old year and the January rows in the new one.
- Fees and interest presentAnnual, late, foreign transaction fees and interest charged appear as rows when the summary shows them.
- One date basis all yearChase prints the transaction date. If your other cards use posting dates, decide once and stay consistent.

FAQ
Chase card statements: questions
How do I export a Chase credit card statement to Excel?
For the last two years, download the activity from chase.com as a spreadsheet (CSV) and open it in Excel. For a full statement, or anything older, save the statement PDF and convert it here to Excel or CSV. Each cycle is checked against the Account Summary.
How far back can I download Chase credit card transactions?
Chase says its download covers the last two years. Statements are kept online for up to seven years, depending on the account type.
Can I get a QBO file for my Chase credit card?
Yes, for the last two years: Chase offers QuickBooks Web Connect (QBO) in its download. For older cycles, convert the statement PDF to QBO and import it into the same credit card account in QuickBooks.
How do I download Chase credit card statements into Quicken?
Chase offers QFX and QIF downloads for the last two years. For older statements, convert the PDF to QFX and import it into the same card account in Quicken.
Where are my Chase credit card statements?
On chase.com, open the main menu and choose Statements & documents, then the year and the card. In the Chase Mobile app they are under Profile & Settings, then Statements & documents.
Why do payments come out as charges?
Chase prints payments and credits with a minus sign and purchases without one. A converter that copies those signs into a file meant for QuickBooks or Xero turns every payment into spending. Converted files here are written from your side of the card: purchases negative, payments and credits positive.
Does a Chase card statement have a running balance?
No. It has an Account Summary instead. Converted rows are checked against it: previous balance plus charges minus payments and credits must equal the new balance.
My Chase statement PDF has a password. Can I still convert it?
Yes. Enter the password when you upload. The PDF is unlocked in your browser and the password is never sent to us.
