The short answer

Can you export a Synchrony statement to Excel?

Not from Synchrony directly, as far as its own help pages go. Synchrony’s paperless statement page describes the statement as “a PDF file of the paper statement”, which you view, print or download from the Statements quick link once you sign in. It documents no CSV, Excel or QuickBooks download for its cards. To get a Synchrony statement into Excel, you save the PDF and convert it.

Where you sign in depends on the card. Synchrony’s find-your-account page sends store cards and CareCredit to consumercenter.mysynchrony.com, the Synchrony Mastercard to mastercard.syf.com, business programs such as Lowe’s and Sam’s Club to their own syf.com sites, and savings to securelogin.synchronybank.com. PayPal Credit statements are on paypal.com. If you hold three Synchrony cards, you collect statements from up to three places.

A converted Synchrony card statement has no running balance, so each cycle is checked against the Account Summary instead: previous balance, minus payments and other credits, plus purchases and other debits, fees and interest, must equal the new balance.

Watch for this

The Promotional Purchase Summary is full of dollar amounts that are not transactions

Most Synchrony store cards and CareCredit sell on promotional financing, so the statement carries a Promotional Purchase Summary: one line per plan with the purchase date, the purchase amount and special terms, the deferred interest charges accrued so far, the promotional balance and the expiration date. Every one of those lines has dollar figures, and the deferred interest column is not money you have been charged (it is billed only if the promotional balance is not paid by the expiration date). A converter that reads every line with an amount as a row adds the promotion table to the transactions and double-counts the original purchase. The summary has to be skipped, and the Plan Type on each transaction kept, so the cycle still ties to the Account Summary.

What Synchrony lets you export

For the cards, the statement PDF is the record. Converting it is how the rows get into a spreadsheet or accounting software.

On mysynchrony.com and the program sites, the Statements quick link lets you view, print or download each cycle. PayPal Credit statements download from paypal.com with Get billing statement.

Step by step

How to convert a Synchrony credit card statement

  1. 1Save the statement PDFs from the card’s siteSign in where your card is managed (mysynchrony.com for most store cards and CareCredit, paypal.com for PayPal Credit) and open Statements. Save each cycle you need as a PDF.
  2. 2One card account per batchKeep each card’s statements together. An Amazon card and a Lowe’s card are separate accounts with separate statements, even though both are issued by Synchrony Bank.
  3. 3Upload and convertSign in to VouchRow and add the PDFs. Digital statements convert in batches. A scanned paper statement is read with OCR, one at a time. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in your browser; the password is never sent.
  4. 4Check each cycle against the Account SummaryThe rows must add back up to the summary on page one. If they do, the cycle shows as balanced. If not, VouchRow shows the difference, and clicking any row shows its line on the PDF.
  5. 5ExportExcel or CSV to review promotional purchases, QBO for a QuickBooks credit card account, QFX or QIF for Quicken, or the Xero CSV preset.

Synchrony statement to Excel

An .xlsx with one row per transaction: date, reference, description, signed amount and plan type. Amounts are written from your side of the card: purchases, fees and interest negative, payments and returns positive (the reverse of how Synchrony prints them). The previous balance minus the sum of the amount column equals the new balance.

Filter on the plan type to see which purchases sit on a promotion, then compare them with the Promotional Purchase Summary on the PDF to track each expiration date.

Why it works

Built around how Synchrony prints a card statement

Promotions are not purchases

The Promotional Purchase Summary lists each financing plan with its balance and deferred interest. It is read as a reference table and kept out of the transaction list.

Plan Type kept per row

A purchase on a 12-month no-interest plan and one on the standard rate look the same in the Amount column. The Plan Type stays with each row so you can tell them apart.

The summary is the proof

Previous Balance, Payments, Other Credits, Purchases & Other Debits, Fees and Interest are the cycle’s totals. They are checked against, not imported.

Card signs, read as a card

Payments and returns print with a minus sign. They come out as credits to the card in every format, not as charges.

Reference numbers kept apart

The Reference # column sits between the date and the description. It is kept as its own field instead of being glued onto the merchant name.

Every row traced to its line

Click a row and the PDF opens at the line it came from, which matters when a CareCredit or store card bill is evidence for a claim or a dispute.

Checked before export

A misread digit is caught on its own row

Every conversion is tested against the statement: the running balance on every row, page subtotals, opening plus movement against closing, the printed credit and debit totals, and the transaction count. When a number does not add up, VouchRow names the row and highlights the line it came from on the PDF.

Arithmetic only: it verifies amounts, balances and totals, not descriptions or dates, and two errors that cancel out would pass. The source-line link covers the rest.

Layout

How a Synchrony credit card statement is laid out

Synchrony’s own sample statement (on its deferred interest page) opens with Payment Information and the Account Summary: Previous Balance, Payments, Other Credits, Purchases & Other Debits, Fees Charged, Interest Charged and New Balance. Cards with a rewards program add a rewards summary box, and a Payment Coupon sits at the foot of page one. None of these are transactions.

Transaction Detail follows, with Date, Reference #, Description, Amount and Plan Type. Payments print as “Payment received - thank you” with a minus sign; purchases have no sign. Fees and interest come after it in their own group, with totals for the period and for the year to date, then the Interest Charge Calculation table with each balance type, its APR and the balance subject to interest.

Layouts differ by program and by year. CareCredit’s statement guide names the transaction list Transaction Summary instead, and older store card statements print Tran Date and Post Date as two columns with the reference number at the end. The sections that matter for a conversion (summary, transactions, promotions, fees and interest) are on all of them.

Promotional financing

Deferred interest and the Promotional Purchase Summary

Store cards and CareCredit sell on promotions such as “No Interest If Paid In Full” within 6, 12 or 24 months. Synchrony prints each one in the Promotional Purchase Summary: Purchase Date, Purchase Amount/Special Terms, Deferred Interest Charges, Promotional Balance and Expiration Date. CareCredit adds a Promotional Expiration Notification and, two months before a deferred interest promotion ends, a payoff reminder on the Payment Coupon.

For a conversion, that table is reference, not activity. The original purchase is already a row in the month it was made. The Deferred Interest Charges column is interest that has accrued but not been billed; it only becomes a row if Synchrony charges it, in which case it appears under interest charged on that cycle. Keeping the Plan Type on each purchase lets you list every open promotion with its expiry, which is usually the reason someone wants the statement in Excel at all.

Where statements live

Where to get Synchrony statements for each card

Synchrony runs each card as a program with its own account center. Most store cards and CareCredit sign in at consumercenter.mysynchrony.com and open Statements; Synchrony describes a Statements quick link that lets you view, print or download the PDF. The Synchrony Mastercard has its own site at mastercard.syf.com, and business programs such as Lowe’s and Sam’s Club have theirs on syf.com sub-domains.

PayPal Credit and the PayPal Credit Card are managed on paypal.com: open the card’s tile, then Statements, and choose Get billing statement to download the PDF. PayPal Extras Mastercard and Smart Connect hand you over to a Synchrony servicing site, where statements sit under Activity. The MySynchrony app shows statements for most cards, but Synchrony lists PayPal Credit, PayPal Extras, Venmo, TJX and eBay Extras as accounts it does not cover.

Synchrony does not publish how many months of card statements stay online. Check the Statements list in your card’s account center, and save each PDF when it arrives if you will need it later.

Savings

Synchrony Bank savings, money market and CD statements

Synchrony Bank savings accounts are online only and are managed at synchronybank.com, separately from any Synchrony card. Synchrony’s deposit agreement says you get a monthly statement unless there are no electronic transfers that month, and at least a quarterly statement in any case. Statements are found under the Inbox tab, then Statements, and download as PDFs.

A savings statement reads like a bank account, not a card: deposits and transfers in raise the balance, withdrawals lower it, and interest is credited to the account. Convert it the same way and the opening balance plus the movement is checked against the closing balance. Synchrony does not publish a transaction download format or a statement retention period for savings; check online banking for what your account offers.

Troubleshooting

Common Synchrony statement conversion problems

Most Synchrony errors come from the promotion table and the extra columns.

  • The cycle total is too high: the Promotional Purchase Summary was read as transactions, so each financed purchase appears twice.
  • Interest that was never charged shows up: the Deferred Interest Charges column is accrued interest, not a billed amount. Only interest under Interest Charged is a row.
  • Merchant names start with a long code: the Reference # column was merged into the description. It is a separate field.
  • Payments show as purchases: the minus sign on payments and returns was read the bank-account way. On a card, minus is a credit to you.
  • A paper statement fee appears on a card you thought was paperless: Synchrony charges $1.99 a month on programs such as CareCredit and Lowe’s when a paper statement is sent and the balance is over $2.50. It is a real charge and belongs in the rows.
  • Statements for one card are missing from mysynchrony.com: the card may be a PayPal, Mastercard or business program managed on a different site.

Before you import

After converting a Synchrony statement, check these

  • The cycle balancesPrevious balance plus the rows equals the New Balance on the Account Summary. If not, the difference is shown.
  • No promotion rowsNothing from the Promotional Purchase Summary among the transactions, and no deferred interest amounts that were not billed.
  • Payments are creditsYour payment and any returns come out positive in the export (credits to the card in QuickBooks), not as charges.
  • Reference numbers separateDescriptions start with the merchant name, not with the reference code.
  • Dates in the right yearOn a cycle that crosses New Year, the December rows are in the old year and the January rows in the new one.
  • One file per cardAmazon, Lowe’s, CareCredit and PayPal Credit statements are separate accounts. Keep them in separate imports.

Downloaded activity and statements are not the same thing

Every large US bank offers two different exports, and people reach for the wrong one constantly. Downloadable account activity — CSV, and often QFX or OFX — covers a recent window, typically a few months, and stops. Statements are PDFs, are issued per period, and go back years. If you need last March, the activity export will not have it and the statement will; converting the PDF is how that gap is closed.
Suggested format

Excel for Synchrony

Synchrony documents no CSV or QuickBooks download for its cards, so the PDF is the only source, and Excel keeps the Plan Type and reference columns visible for checking promotional purchases before anything goes into accounting software.

FAQ

Synchrony statements: questions

How do I export a Synchrony statement to Excel?

Synchrony documents no Excel or CSV download for its cards. Save the statement PDF from your card’s account center and convert it here to Excel or CSV. Each cycle is checked against the Account Summary.

Can I download Synchrony transactions as a CSV?

Synchrony’s help pages describe statements as PDFs and do not list a CSV download for its cards. Converting the statement PDF gives you a CSV with one row per transaction, in the date format your importer expects.

How do I get statements from Synchrony Bank?

Sign in where your card is managed and open Statements. Most store cards and CareCredit use consumercenter.mysynchrony.com, PayPal Credit uses paypal.com, and Synchrony Bank savings uses synchronybank.com, where statements are under the Inbox tab.

Where is my Amazon Store Card statement?

The Amazon Store Card is issued by Synchrony Bank, so the statement is Synchrony’s. Amazon’s help points cardholders to the Synchrony sign-in at synchrony.com/amazon; sign in there and open Statements to save the PDF, then convert it like any other Synchrony card.

How far back can I see Synchrony statements?

Synchrony does not publish a figure for card statements. Check the Statements list in your card’s account center, and save PDFs as they arrive if you will need older cycles later.

Is there a fee for Synchrony paper statements?

On programs such as CareCredit and Lowe’s, the card agreement sets a $1.99 monthly Paper Statement Fee in any cycle where a paper statement is sent and the balance is over $2.50. Paperless statements avoid it.

Why does my converted statement show my financed purchase twice?

The Promotional Purchase Summary repeats each financed purchase with its balance. It is a reference table. Converted files here keep it out of the rows, so the purchase appears once, in the cycle you made it.

Can I import a Synchrony card into QuickBooks or Quicken?

Synchrony does not document a QuickBooks or Quicken download for its cards. Convert the statement PDF to QBO for QuickBooks or QFX for Quicken and import it into the card account. Each row carries a transaction ID, so a repeat import does not duplicate.

Convert your Synchrony statements

Upload the PDFs, check every cycle against its Account Summary, and export Excel, CSV, QBO or QFX with promotional plans kept apart.
